Rain could be unpredictable here...one minute it was sunny, the next few minutes it would be raining, as in this instance. The rain came just 15 minutes later.

(Big Horns is just a name I gave the buffalo when uploading this.)
When Big Horns tell you to move, you move!
You cannot domesticate buffaloes. So even if these buffs get a food supplement during the dry season, they remain as wild as their ancestors. Very short tempered and unpredictable.

We drive ahead of the empty coal train and around the dirt roads along the edges of Kushoky. We know where to go, we want to reach the slag tips before the train does. The railways running is unpredictable here, we have seen trains lay over here, trains shunt, trains run straight through without stopping. This one stops. No problem. Another passes through in the opposite direction below us, and on to Nura without stopping. Our train shuts down. Hmm...The mosquitoes play with us, the sun sinks slowly but surly. Soon the track below is eclipsed by the shadow of the heaps, we climb down. Jane contacts me, she has seen a friend in Karagandy today. When shall we be back? She is hungry. We are probably, we are also distracted. She will find something without us. The locomotives remain silent. But wait, is someone climbing aboard, whoosh, the twin units burst into life, smoke is pushed skywards. But no, wait, a wagon tapper is walking the train. The sun continues to sink, only ten minutes left, maybe less. Then the loudspeakers bark, поезд...
Yes, the train is leaving! We are gesticulated at furiously, a crewman shouts down to me, are they friendly, are they not? But we have secured a picture in fine light. Our next task is to find Jane in an unfamiliar city in the dark, an hour and a half away. I can't remember what or where Sven and myself ate.
After a layover of just over an hour and a quarter at Kushoky station, 2TE10Mr-0081 of the Tranco Nura restarts it rake of empty wagons bound for the open cast coal mine at Molodezhnyy as the sun sinks down to the horizon on the last day of April 2025.
TE10 aficionados may note the old style centre headlamp casing on this early model, which is the same as that on the DR Ludmilla.
Spiranthes spiralis (Orchidaceae) 266 23
Spiranthes. spiralis taking its name from the way in which the flowers are spirally arranged along the stem. In many parts of Europe it is one of the very last orchids of the summer, often still being in flower at the end of September. In some areas of the Mediterranean including Sicily and Cyprus, this flowering period can even extend to the later weeks of October.
This is by far the most frequent of the four species of Spiranthes occurring in Europe, being found from southern Scandinavia in the north to the Mediterranean (including North Africa) in the south. Despite its wide distribution and tolerance of a broad range of habitats, it is nowhere particularly common and often absent from seemingly suitable areas.
Although this species can occasionally be found in damp conditions, it primarily seeks a dry position in full sun with close cropped vegetation.
It is a small orchid which in open grassland rarely exceeds 20cms in height, although where it occurs in pinewoods, can reach a spindly 35cms. S. spiralis can be an unpredictable flowerer and its appearance seems critically linked to rainfall levels through the spring/summer development period.

Anticipating the potential for some interesting candid photography in this wild weather, I was disturbed to witness what ultimately turned out to be quite a confrontational and ugly scene between this man and a taxi driver. Despite its confrontational content, I’ve elected to post it because I think it conveys an interesting visual commentary on all facets of humanity. Both the taxi driver and man were okay.

Another long break due to work commitments and the unpredictability of the British weather (its not every year that you have snow in April in the South of England after all...). Weather seemed very nice and the tides were ideal for Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset (www.visit-dorset.com/things-to-do/attractions/kimmeridge-...) so I decided to drive the 2+ hours it takes to get there. This is a very popular location and another 9 photographers were "competing" for the best rock to stand on. I have a thing for green stuff growing on rocks and the rock in the middle of the frame automatically attracted my eye. Beautiful golden light, nice blue water but not enough cloud for my liking. I was expecting a nicer sunset but had to compromise. After so many years with my D300s I am still getting used to D810 but I have to say I am very impressed with the sharpness of the images.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my image

Pop-up storms quickly change the warmth of summer to darkened, unpredictable weather as unsuspecting geese enjoy the southern climate of Texas.
I caught some shots early on and this is one of them. I am debating posting the really red ones. It looked apocalyptic ! This is not the usual weather we would expect for this time of year. I remember some Decembers, so cold I didn't want to go out side. My junior year in high school we built igloos and went ice skating on the ponds and lake. Ice was at least a foot thick. We used to ice fish as well and the wind just wipped across the lake making it so cold you would need to build a shelter. ( igloos ) Used the snow on top of the ice to build the walls and driftwood covered with snow to make a roof. Caught some really nice fish !
Camels usually have four legs, a bit of a hump or two and a somewhat unpredictable temperament.
Not so this 1917 Sopwith Camel though, which has four wings at the front instead of a leg at each corner, and that bit that usually threatens to spit in your face or bite your arm if you look at it the wrong way, has been replaced by a nine cylinder radial engine, a nice wooden propeller and dual synchronised machine guns.
I'm not sure that the mammalian version (The Mammal Camel, if you will) actually has any built-in heavy weaponry, synchronised or otherwise, but I do suspect that you'd really know it if one of them decided to kick you.
Of course, that nice wooden propellor will properly kill you if you get on the wrong side of it when it's having a turn, but, generally speaking, the mechanical camel variant is much better behaved than its humpy counterpart. The one pictured above allowed me to go right up to it when taking the portrait that you see here.

We call life a rollercoaster not just for the highs and lows, but because of its unpredictability — the sudden drops, sharp turns, and moments where everything feels out of control. Once you’re on, there’s no getting off. You ride it through.
One day you're climbing — things make sense, you're moving forward, maybe even falling in love with a person, a job, a dream. The next day, it shifts. A disappointment, a change you didn’t see coming, and suddenly you’re in free fall. Then, just as quickly, there's a turn. A lift. A new perspective. And you're back on your way up.
This rhythm — the constant motion — is life itself. Work, love, ambition: all of it comes with ups and downs. And while we crave stability, it’s the movement that teaches us. We grow not in the smooth parts, but in the drops and climbs.
Eventually, we stop fighting the ride. We learn to breathe through the chaos, to laugh in the turns, and to trust that the track, however wild, is taking us somewhere worth going.

Hybrid Tea, created in Germany by Tantau in 2012, is a beautiful plant that looks good, as its name suggests.
The plant is especially notable for its double flowers, which are isolated or grouped together in clusters. These flowers create a cheerful atmosphere with their unpredictable red and pink stripes, which can be found in various shades, even nearly white. The flowers are about 9 centimeters wide and have a cup-shaped shape. They have an intense, sweet fruity scent and can last for a long time when cut and used as indoor flowers.
Very remontant variety along all the vegetative season that well suits for flower beds with low bushes.

It’s remarkably difficult to capture the full on fury of a storm in a single image. There are so many things happening at once that it becomes hard to focus- from technical aspects such as composition and camera stability in the face of violent and unpredictable gusts to the obvious dangers of shooting coastal scenes on an incoming tide. This is storm Atiyah, which brought 80mph winds and huge seas to the west coast of Britain in early December 2019. Shot about an hour or so from high tide on the rocks below the sea wall at Porthcawl, it was probably the most scared I’ve been in the last 6 years of photography. And despite being confidant that the sea direction and wind was pushing the huge swells just in front of me, 25 years of windsurfing have taught me to have absolute respect for the sheer unpredictability of the sea.
This may not be a pretty landscape but it’s one for all of you Flickr friends who have supported my stream over the years.
Pacific Northwest weather is unpredictable and diverse. One minute the sun is out and the next, fogs rolled in and temperature drops.
There was no way you could have known exactly what to expect. You are unaware of what awaits you as you travel this unpredictable, though rewarding journey. And you are brave, following the path that is necessary for you—while it’s extremely intense and challenging you are doing the deep, exhausting, painful, excruciating, validating, life-giving work of healing and becoming more of who God created you to be.

One of the many foggy views I saw last week on our way to a neurofeedback therapy appointment that was more intense than I could describe with words—incredibly difficult, exhausting and necessary, rewarding and healing. As I see the images I took from the passenger seat it shows me a metaphor for my experience that day and throughout this journey.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account
I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.
If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:
Many thanks for your support.

This strange, dry and hot spring has caused unpredictable shifts or delays on the life cycles of many wild creatures, including fireflies (Lampiridae), which has anticipated markedly their appearance. Consequently, yesterday night I just found the last tail of the annual swarm of nocturnal lights, and I could only adapt my photographic plans to what I found in just a small parcel of land, namely some fireflies deeply hidden in the undergrowth. No wide frames, no long light tracks, but just groundlevel compositions like this. However, I had the chance to test the good performance of the Eos R5 in night photography. Hopefully this first experience will be useful next year....

AI Overview
Bittern | The Bird ID Company
When a bittern takes flight, it reveals broad, rounded wings with a slow, steady wingbeat, and its legs trail behind. The bird has a stocky build, thick neck, and overall buff-brown, streaked plumage that provides excellent camouflage. It typically flies low over the marsh, its neck sometimes retracted, to quickly return to the cover of reeds
It was an unpredictable day with lighting ranging from poor to decent. This was taken in more iffy lighting conditions.

Somewhere during our snowy drive down the Icefields Parkway, we crossed the park boundary line from Jasper National Park to Banff National Park. The only way we knew it, was with a sign that marked the spot. We were quite focused on the winding, wet road that I am not sure the exact location of this beautiful valley in the Rockies. I do know this was in the Banff Park. We were pressed for time due to weather. However, when the clouds lifted enough for a peek at this lookout point, we stopped for a quick picture. It depicts that moody unpredictable day we had. You can see the road below that we drove on next. The awe of travelling deep between those majestic mountains just cannot be captured with images.
