The annual PowerPlex User Conference is packed wall-to-wall with value content. We spend a few days filling our heads with best practices, new ideas and more capabilities. So at the end of the day, we like to unplug our brains for a few hours and have some fun. We call it “PartyPlex”. It’s a chance to hang-out with all the Plex users and Plexians, engage in some friendly competition and raise money for one of our favorite charities.

This year’s PartyPlex took place at the new Dallara IndyCar Racing Experience in Speedway, Indiana. Attendees experienced the thrill of racing with laps in the cockpit of a street legal IndyCar, behind the wheel of racing simulator games and around the minicar track. There was plenty of good food, drink and music to go around.

This year’s focus charity was the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with joy. We think it’s a remarkable organization. We were delighted to raise more than $21,000 to support their efforts with the PartyPlex Silent Auction and games.

The event was sponsored by Plex Systems and Plante Moran. Please visit them at plex.com and plantemoran.com

Viaje de Vacaciones: Puerto la Cruz 2009

After our whole group session broke for the evening, folks started to work at investigating the map, and began to add connections to help make sense of the various bits.

The cast and crew behind-the-scenes of Neftaly's "Guide to Global Warming." In this segment Neftaly writes, "whenever you aren't using an electrical appliance, such as an iron, unplug it!" Great tip! Neftaly submitted her writing and illustrations when she was in sixth grade at Falconer Elementary.

This version includes a title that attempts to pull out some of my key themes, substituted for the more generic "My Letter from The Edge."

Rodd Lucier and the Unplug'd12 team have done a wonderful job pulling together and presenting all of the artifacts from this fantastic event. Check out the complete set of reflections at Letters from the Edge on the Unplug'd12 website. The various and yet resonating themes provide a wonderful montage of key issues, concerns, and hopes for learning in this age.

The quality of design on the website is so beautiful, I'm not happy just leaving it on the Internet. This image combines my letter (two screen captures, aligned and merged in photoshop, together with a third screen capture (the cover page) and a brief descriptive text. I'm thinking a nice plaque mount of this will make a wonderful keepsake.

You know, for when I'm Unplug'd.
