New singing Rapunzel doll being deboxed. She is identical to last year's Singing Rapunzel, except that she sings 'I See the Light' instead of 'Healing Incantation', and the packaging is different. The Try Me feature is activated by opening the lid, and she sings 10 seconds of the song. To debox her, you have to open the bottom first, so you can unplug the Try Me wire from the front lid. Then you can lift the inner box (to which the doll is attached) from the outer box. She is attached to the inner box and plastic supports by wires, tiny T-tabs and rubber bands.

After the Try Me wire is unplugged from the back of the doll, she can now sing the 45 seconds of 'I See the Light' by sliding the lantern on her right hand. The lantern and plastic flowers in her hair light up while she sings.

I got the singing Rapunzel doll last Friday (July 22, 2016) from the Disney Store, that I ordered during the Friends and Family sale. I have yet to see her in stores (as of July 31, 2016).

Even though I'm not thrilled with the look of the new Rapunzel's box, the Try Me mechanism is rather neat. You first enable the Try Me switch by pulling a long plastic tab in the back. Then there is a switch attached to the hinge of the front cover, which is activated when you close then open the lid far enough. It will cause Rapunzel to sing about 10 seconds of I See the Light, and light up the lantern she is holding and flowers in her hair. I will post more detailed photos of Rapunzel when I debox her. I still have not seen her in stores yet. And the new singing Belle doll is nowhere to be found, either in stores or online.

Now I have singing rapunzel dolls with three different songs. ''When Will My Life Begin'' (2011 - 2014), ''Healing Incantation'' (2015) and now ''I See the Light'' (2016). I wish that other of the Disney singing dolls would have such a variation in their songs.

The fact that all sides are covered by cardboard (except for the oval plastic window in front), makes the box very sturdy. In particular, all the edges and corners are really stiff, so resist damage during shipping. My doll's box came in perfect shape, which I can't say for most of the doll boxes I order from the Disney Store. The box wasn't packed any better than usual (a few airbags on the bottom of the shipping carton), but the sturdiness of the doll's box made the difference. Also this box is much thicker (deeper) than previous singing doll boxes, and even LE doll boxes, so leaves lots of room to position the doll nicely. The new construction also means the boxed doll is bulkier and heavier than previous singing dolls, so may be more costly to ship.

The Concept:

As a culture, we have found ourselves entwined with the exponential growth of technology. Our everyday lives are entangled with the necessity for electronic machines, digital devices, chiming alerts, charging ports, LED screens and high speed connectivity.

This summer, we are extending the invitation for you to come unplug with us.

For three days and two nights, we will power down the communication devices and engage in conversation without texting. We will eat meals by the fire and connect socially without the social network. We will appreciate nature in its true form: up close and personal, without the pixels.

We welcome you to our tribal village.

Over a hundred South African activists joined other climate activists from across the globe with a symbolic anti-coal installation in Johannesburg's Gandhi Square to call on the South African government and the national utility - Eskom - to unplug coal power, and switch on renewable energy instead.

The movement against coal is growing as 67+ anti-coal events today took place in 12 countries: Turkey, Australia, India, Germany, the U.S., Italy, Slovenia, Philippines, South Africa, Burma, Indonesia and Romania, all with the hashtag: #endcoal.

It’s a sugar coated version of XP that conflicts with my video editing programs. Microsoft has made it harder to move files with no “move” feature. They have taken away the windows picture viewer and gif images don’t work without extra software.

The switch to box wouldn't let me switch mto moizilla on a download for an upgrade to snagit.

shaneksmith1957@gmail.com

Installing windows 7 signature edition on 32 bit and 64 bit. I had to wipe the 32 bit because 7 wouldn’t recognize windows 7 RC. Install of fresh 7 took About 40 minutes. From Vista 64 bit 7 copied and saved programs and data of @ 400gb on my lt and @ 80 programs in @ five hours! That was nice!

10/10/2009 9:39:53 PM

Wipe 7 32 bit because of ati problem. Starting re install

To ready desktop:

10/10/2009 10:08:59 PM

A wipe did not fix the ati glitch on a reinstall.

Windows 7 changed back to windows 7 basic color scheme and the tuner came back on. I had just plugged the tuner into Laptop 2 64bit vista and ati 650 worked. Then all of a sudden the tuner started working again on my 7 lt. Weird coincidence.

10/14/2009 4:21:42 AM

Uninistalling Roxio and using a windows basic or Aero theme in Display settings then re-installing the 650 program over the existing install made the 650 work for me again. I dare not mess with Windows TV tuner!

For those with simple need that don’t need a TV tuner I sugest Windows 7 Ultimate. For those willing to troubleshoot your ATI tuner I also suggest Windows 7 Ultimate!

10/14/2009 11:23:51 PM

A windows 7 update today caused the ati not to work again. It plays but is slow.

10/17/2009 5:16:59 AM

I had to reverrify my activation key on the 32 bit.

I can only network 2 machines that are both on 7.

10/17/2009 10:12:32 PM

A clean uninstall of the 650 then re-install AFTER re-installing roxio fixed it so far. It’s working with roxio now. Roxio’s TV tuner and the ati tuner are working. If you put in ati first before Roxio then Roxio won’t let you install ati.

Hp 7350 photo printer won’t work with hp laptop 64bit and 7 desktop 32bit. No compatible drivers I have found so far have helped.

I can’t figure out how to sort icons in Quick launch with 7.

unfortunately iMac G3 and G4 could't come to join the party...

1. Pray with somebody.

Read Mark 14:38—even Jesus realized prayer took some effort. And while we need private prayer times, we also need the prayerful support of others. So, ask a friend to meet with you once a week during lunch or after school. Share issues in your life and pray for one another. It might feel a little awkward at first, but it will get better with time—and you'll get closer to God and to each other.

2. Take a day off.

Even though Jesus didn't want "honoring the Sabbath" (Exodus 20:8) to become a mindless ritual (Mark 2:27), he believed getting away and focusing on God is really important (Luke 5:16). So, what should honoring the Sabbath look like? Well, it should be one day every week—usually on Sunday—when you take time out of your regular schedule to rest and connect with God with your Christian community. No homework, no work, nada. When you get away from schoolwork and other things that distract you, there's a lot of space to rest and think and pray about what really matters. For more insights into honoring the Sabbath, see our article "Give It a Rest".

3. Unplug.

Every once in a while, unplug all your tech toys. Video games, TVs, cell phones, internet—everything. (The world won't end, I promise.) Use this unplugged time to talk with a friend, face-to-face. Go on a walk or play guitar. Read a good novel. Hey, read the Bible. Or just sit quietly, allowing God to speak to your heart without all the normal distractions.

4. Eat temple food.

Sound weird? Well, the Bible says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. What does this mean practically? Let's say you're standing in front of the vending machines at school. Pretzels or cheesy puffs? Soda or water? Now, this isn't to say we can't enjoy a sweet soft drink or a nice chunk of chocolate cake once in a while. But the important thing is to not always fill God's temple with junk—or junk food. And when you do eat, whether it's a Snickers or a carrot stick, thank God for tasty snacks and good food that nourishes your body—his holy temple.

5. Go green.

Taking care of the earth is "in" right now. But God was into the planet long before hybrid cars and recycling. God created the heavens and the earth, and he said his creation was good. When he made humans, he told them to care for his creation (Genesis 2:15). We still have that responsibility. When there's enough natural light, leave the lights off. Recycle. Carpool. Ride a bike instead of driving. Thank God for the earth he created and treat it as the beautiful masterpiece it is.

6. Memorize Bible verses.

Why? Because God's Word "exposes our innermost thoughts and desires" (Hebrews 4:12). And Psalm 119:9 says we can keep ourselves pure by obeying God's Word. When we memorize Scripture, we have it ready when we need it. It's in our heads, helping us make good decisions and helping us reflect on God's promises. Pick a favorite verse and write it on your mirror with a dry-erase marker. Whenever you look in the mirror, repeat the verse in your head. When you've memorized it, put up a new verse. Where to start: Why not Hebrews 4:12 and Psalm 119:9?

7. Stop blabbing.

Read James 3:2-12 and Proverbs 16:24, and remember that speaking too much usually gets us in trouble—with parents, friends, teachers, coaches, bosses. So practice the discipline of "taming the tongue" and focus on speaking words of encouragement. Cut out swearing, putdowns and gossip. If you're struggling to say something encouraging, don't speak until you can.

8. Be kind … in secret.

When we watch TV and read celebrity magazines, we get one message over and over: Fame is just about better than anything. But read Matthew 6:1-6 and you'll discover God thinks differently. When we do nice things for others without them knowing, we keep ourselves from becoming arrogant or from needing the approval of others. So, why not write an anonymous note of encouragement to someone and put it in his or her locker? Or maybe leave a small gift for a teacher or friend? You can also pray for someone without them knowing it. Whatever you do, do it for God. He's watching and he's pleased with your selfless and secret acts of kindness.

9. Live it up!

Life in Christ is the best thing around, so celebrate it! And there are many ways to celebrate—dance in the sunshine, sing a song to him, take photos of his beautiful creation, write a poem, paint a picture, share a delicious meal with friends, play basketball, laugh! Whatever you do, do it as a way to praise God and thank God for the great gift of life.

A windows 7 update today caused the ati not to work again. It plays but is slow.

10/17/2009 5:16:59 AM

I had to reverrify my activation key on the 32 bit.

I can only network 2 machines that are both on 7.

This is part real photograph and part Photoshop brush. The real photograph is the plastic vodka bottle which was shot as described below.

Strobist - Plastic Vodka bottle (Dark field lighting)

4 x Nikon SB28 BB @ 1/32 power behind frosted plexiglass background

Plexiglass had a black card on it and the bottle was placed so that its edges were withing the boundaries of the card.

The edges of the black card coincided with the edges of the viewfinder - this is the dark field setup as discussed in LS&M

Triggered with PCSync cables through a device called StopShot

(this wasn't really necessary, it was just me being lazy and not wanting to unplug the StopShot!! as I was doing high speed photography afterwards).

The "bubbles" were doing using a custom Photoshop brush, first time I'd created one, they are actually quite useful!!

The tutorial I used was: www.photoshoplayer.com/intermediate/creating-a-bubble-bru...

Not sure if this kind of thing will disqualify my picture from the Strobist pool (or other pools), I did check (Strobist rules), there is no explicit mention of how much PS manipulation is "too much".

The Intent:

It’s a sugar coated version of XP that conflicts with my video editing programs. Microsoft has made it harder to move files with no “move” feature. They have taken away the windows picture viewer and gif images don’t work without extra software.

The switch to box wouldn't let me switch mto moizilla on a download for an upgrade to snagit.

How i did these ....

First of all you need to break the light bulb. I held the bulb in a bag and gently hit the bulb with a hammer. My success rate was about 1 in 3, hence buy cheap bulbs! There is another way and that's with an adjustable wrench and snap the glass at the smallest point. I believe the success rate would be a lot better than the hammer!

Once you've broken the bulb, it's a matter of choice to either clean off all the remaining glass or leave the bulb in the exact same state as first broken. If the filaments have moved, move them back in place so they are symmetrical.

I setup an old lamp stand approximately 12" in front of some black card. Attach the broken bulb, but make sure it's not plugged in! I then set the focus to manual and focused on the filaments. I used a number of various settings between f4 & f8 and a minimum shutter speed of 1/800. Set the camera to continuous shooting. No flash was used in any of these, but a couple of them I did back light the bulb but it didn't really make much difference. If anything, it gave me more pp work to do! The room also doesn't need to be pitch black, I did all of mine with natural light coming through the window!

So here goes .... Try and use a remote if you can as you have to start snapping about a second before plugging in the lamp. You literally get a couple of seconds before the bulb burns out. Hopefully this will give you about 6 shots to choose from.

Good luck all and dont forget to unplug the light before removing the blown bulb!!

Here is one of my photos from the Georgia expedition last week. It was such an experience and so much fun to unplug and be in mother nature. We did so much; went to a fair that was themed "how things used to be", cut and ate fresh sugar cane and boiled peanuts and had the most phenomenomenomenominal home-made pizza.

We also met a friend while taking photos near this location. He drove up the red clay road we were shooting near and started telling us jokes for about 15 minutes. Priceless.

This weekend I will be hanging out with 13 other photographers as we venture up to the Great Smoky Mountains. It is supposed to be 19 degrees with the most beautiful leaves in the world, and that makes me extremely excited. More to come!

In the left photo, 32 CAT-5e telephone cables and 43 CAT-6e computer cables come into the Community Center server room via a 4-inch conduit. Yesterday I went over to comb out all of the phone cable (middle photo) and then dress it over to the side and into the cable guides and punchdown block brackets. (I don't have to deal with the computer cables. We have a contractor for that...)

Soon I get to install the punchdown blocks and connect all of the dots! (Including the single 25-pair cable punchdown to connect this room to the actual digital phone switch, 200 feet away.) Then, when the building rehab is finished, the Recreation staff should be able to unplug their phones from their temporary trailer offices, walk into the newly opened building, and simply plug their phones in at their new desks.

It might even work!

I think it was unnecessary to remove the heat sink and fan, but it can be done.

7 can feel me closing it down. it crashed as i copy program files so I can downgrade to vista.

I caught this rare Australia vacuum heading towards my LEGOs...thankfully I was able to unplug it in time ;)
