The ribbons are given to him after the Horse Dance, which is a traditional ceremony we attend every summer. Sam is not allowed to be at the ceremony (which involves horses and their riders/dancers) but he can watch from a distance. People always bring him ribbons after the ceremony, along with bowls of the bison broth which has been blessed by the leaders of the Horse Dance. The Horse Dance is to honor all of the four-legged beings.
Sam always has these ribbons on his collar.

My youngest son Logan just celebrated his second birthday. I learned with my first son how fast kids grow up, so I waited until he turned two for his first haircut. Now he looks like a little boy. I love being a dad. My kids are my greatest thing that ever happened to me. They inspire me to succeed in everything I do.
Lorena with her best friend Thomas the cat. I love how children find comfort in one special toy they take everywhere with them.

He doesn't like to be weighed. Takes after his alpha human female. Neither do I! That's Tia, Sam's buddy and veterinarian. I love Tia's gentle manner around her "patients." And the way Sam leans on her -- he does that to anyone who shows the least interest in scratching his ears or rubbing his chest.
This was shortly after he got his spring clipping ... the groomer clips him to look sorta like a lab. His coat is like velvet when it's this short.
I am truly convinced a person has not lived until they have been loved by a dog. Fozzie has brought us so much joy, he is a dog that gives so much love, so many kisses, plays with his toys, waits for you by the door when you drive up...the list goes on. He is quite the special boy......
