our vet thinks the growth she removed might be melanoma. we're waiting on the lab results before we worry. Meanwhile he's recovering. Hates to have that thing on his foot, though. the vet told Sam if he didn't leave the bandage alone he'd have to "wear a lamp shade".... he pouted at that.
Her name is Smitty (Hey, I though she was a boy when I rescued her as a stray kitten.)
She's 14 years old, and she's a ginger tabby with patches of white.
She loves me unconditionally, and is a smart and well-behaved (well, most of the time) girl, and she doesn't care how I present myself.
But, oh, if she could talk, I'm afraid of what she'd tell Mom. ^_^;
She does know some things to get the attention of her human caretakers, like reaching out to tap us on the leg with her paws, or hopping up on the keyboard shelf, like she did here.
I'm very blessed for every day she's here with me, she's my darling yellow-eyed friend.
Sam recently had his spring haircut. We're hanging out in the Gallatin River on a crisp April day - on our way down to Big Sky to measure up a job of Tim's. It was a warm, beautiful day.
That's what Ann said as we sat on the water watching the sunset.
After a full day, dinner, then mowing the lawn, working in the yard and pond, it was almost 8 PM, but we realized that with the unplanned surgery and recovery, it had been way too long since we were out on the lake. Fortunately, from leaving the driveway to actually being on the water is about 6 minutes.
A bond of Love.
A fathers bond with his new born son less than 2hrs old the emotion is complete and the love is unconditional...
Our girl Blue has got to be the most loved on, hugged on and kissed dog in the neighborhood. Every night before I go to bed I whisper to her about how much she is loved.

The topic? Unconditional love . . . they say one should write about what they know.
The challenge here (as you can see from the writing in the photo) is to sit down and begin to write about a topic so big that one cannot get their arms around it. Unconditional love is PERFECT for this assignment.
Plus, I have gladly accepted this challenge.
As the instructions say, once you accept the challenge, trust The Muse to support you. True to this, as soon as I committed to this topic, I began to get email with personal stories of unconditonal love and the sender had no idea that I had just made this commitment!
Julia Cameron would be applauding, I am sure, while whispering, "Synchronicity, my dear . . . "
As for me, I do not claim to love perfectly, though I have made it a goal of my life to be loving. The topic of unconditional love, however, forces one to stop and examine carefully their motives for loving. Try it! You may find yourself surprised and enlightened.
So I claim only to be a mere student of love, who will still be learning about the topic for the rest of my days. However, I do also surround myself with some wonderful role models from which to take notes.

The ribbons are given to him after the Horse Dance, which is a traditional ceremony we attend every summer. Sam is not allowed to be at the ceremony (which involves horses and their riders/dancers) but he can watch from a distance. People always bring him ribbons after the ceremony, along with bowls of the bison broth which has been blessed by the leaders of the Horse Dance. The Horse Dance is to honor all of the four-legged beings.
Sam always has these ribbons on his collar.

My youngest son Logan just celebrated his second birthday. I learned with my first son how fast kids grow up, so I waited until he turned two for his first haircut. Now he looks like a little boy. I love being a dad. My kids are my greatest thing that ever happened to me. They inspire me to succeed in everything I do.
