Man's Best Friend, Woman's too

23/365.

If there's anything that could frame that smile into eternity at all;

if there's anything that could turn your little wishes into reality at all.

I would go to the moon and pick the stars, turn them into the magic wand that grants you all the little wishes.

If you're vulnerable at all, you're still the sunflower that carries on with strength, lives on with smiles.

If you age through the years at all, you remain a baby at heart forever.

A prayer

I want to believe

I need to believe

when one door slams at my face

with pain and harshness

another door will open up

gently, wide and free

and I will find a new path

to walk along

with love and friendship

unconditionally.

One of the many rewards of having children, is that look they give you of unconditional love and adoration. The kind that warms your heart so much it breaks of joy.

One of the other rewards, is watching them share that look with your spouse and falling head over heels in love with them again. A great Father is so sexy.

And I am very lucky. : )

Who makes a better Valentine's Day companion than this little pug who's filled to the brim with unconditional love?

(Even after I tortured him to get this shot).

Our Daily Challenge - "Your Valentine"

Hopefully it's still relevant now that Valentine's Day is over. Photoshop was doing the *opposite* of loving me yesterday, and destroyed my first attempt at editing this photo.

The new MUTAYTOR CD is out!

Recorded over four inspired days at the historic Westerfeld Mansion in San Francisco last April has yielded and true piece of musical beauty.

I am really really proud of this CD. Though I had nothing to do with the music, I was honored to be the guy with magic image box to capture the story.

From the CD:

"IN THE SPRING OF 2010, we packed up our gear, our studios, a fairly impressive collection of microphones, and

miles of cable and brought up to San Fransisco and proceeded to turn our friend Jimmy Seigel’s famed

Westerfeld Mansion into a giant recording studio. What happened surprised even us.

Music likes being in some places ...better than others. Most commercial recording studios are deliberately designed to be very acoustically sterile environments, where little is left to chance and each sound can be kept on a fairly tight leash. The Westerfeld was anything but that. Almost immediately we realized we weren’t so much in a building anymore, but a living, breathing organism that seemed to listen to every sound we made and repeated it back to us instantly in a very rich and harmonically pleasing way. For four whirlwind days and nights, the house cooed and hummed in way that could be compared to a puppy having it’s belly rubbed.

While we tracked, all around us, creativity was bursting like a hundred flowers - photos were piling up all over the place, film was running constantly, we were visited by a group of folks in wedding dresses, we enacted strange musical rituals in the bell tower, and on the whole, we all went mad with inspired joy.

What you hold in your hand now are some of the fruits of that endeavor. All of the reverberations and reflections you hear on this recording were naturally created by the house itself, rather than through any modern technology and in many ways, the Westerfeld itself became an instrument we collectively played.

Most of these songs have appeared in some form or another on previous recordings, however the arrangements and performances are all new and represent where we were as a band at that moment in time after a prolonged stint of touring. It is our sincere hope that you enjoy this album even a fraction of the amount we did making it. and if we’ve failed to mention it before - THANK YOU FOR LISTENING."

Today, 1 month ago I lost him. After 19 years I still find myself looking for him when I come home.....when I leave.......when I am driving to visit relatives/cancer treatments...he was always in the car with me.

I catch myself singing his morning song before I get out of bed just as always.

Every evening I find myself calling or looking for him for our snuggle talk time about an hour or so before bed. I walk to his box to scoop litter to find his box covered and I cannot move it yet.

One month and things are getting better. I am starting to really realize he is gone and how much a part of my life he was......and I just never realized.

This is my dog, Rufus George McNasty. My wife rescued him off the side of the road a few years ago. Then, he only weighed about 9 lbs. and was so skinny. Somehow he got named Rufus, and then I started calling him, George as well. Because he has fuzzy, wirey hair that sticks straight out when it's long,, my oldest daughter didn't I(and still doesn't) like to touch him, calling him, "Nasty." Later, she started calling him, McNasty...thus his name (and it's on his dogtag too)! He is one of the most lovable dogs I've ever had, because he trusts anyone and everyone. When I'm home, he is by me, on me, or near me 99% of the time. When my wife and I go to bed at night...he gets in the middle and sometimes sleeps with his head on my arm. If I'm away for a few days, he goes nuts! I usually keep his hair trimmed down through the summer, just leaving his eyelashes, goatee, and the spike (along the top of his head) long. He's starting to get pretty long here, and, as you can see, it sticking out every which way!

The "in spite of ourselves" is what I love about this quote. It's so true. How can you truly love someone if you don't also accept their quirkiness? I've been "loved" by people who have essentially expected or hoped that I would change things that make me who I am. No one is perfect and finding someone who sees those quirks as endearing, rather than as imperfections, truly must be the greatest happiness in life.

Yesterday's shot, posted late. Still have to come up with one for today!

He had such a blast with this ball we found outside someone's yard, but I had to take it from him because he figured out how to get his tooth in the seam and he would have popped it in no time.

Such love can't be forced. It takes 19 years of joy that doesn't give it justice.

Pepe Le Pew would disagree, of course!

Have some good news about Mama-san and Lil Monster..

As many of you know mama and baby have been pushed out of their 2 story home by a older guy that is now living there. No big deal as they both just moved into another large abandoned building next door where I first found them living underneath in the dirt..

Anyway, point is for the last couple of weeks it has been noticed that a monk and a monk trainee have also taken up residence in the large decaying building. There are many and I do mean many rooms, so just pick one and move in. No power by the way but water is available for showers and toilets.

These guys have watched me come and go, feeding and playing with my two adopted dogs that no one can get close to except, one young Jon ..;-)

Sitting down on a bench close by the monk mama parks herself right next to me while leaning in very close. Baby climbs into my lap like a cat and lays her head down on my leg. Monk and trainee watch in amusement. Monk puts out his hand with some cake but neither dog moves.Trainee does the same, neither dog will budge. I get up and go sit on the floor in front of the monk and take the cake from his hand as both dogs watch intently. A soft whistle leaves my lips, mama comes close to me but Lil Monster won't move a muscle, the baby is real nervous, mama is real cautious. Mr Monk tries once more to feed the dogs but has no success. If the cake goes from the monk to me then to mama she will eat it.

I stand keeping my head bowed and walk back over to the baby. She takes the cake from my hand and follows me back to sit in front of the monk with mama.So here ya go, monk hands me the cake, I in turn hand it to mama and baby for about 15 minutes. When ever I tried to move away in an attempt to let the dogs get comfortable with the monk they would stick close to my every move This routine has gone on for the last 10 days +or-.

Today is the 27th of Jan and all this has now changed for the better.

Mama will get close enough to the monk and trainee to take food from his hand then back away real fast. Baby will not even get close to anyone but me.

It is obvious we have been working on this for some time now and things are working out in a positive way ..;-)

.

Most everyone at the temple and surrounding area know what the funny white guy with cameras does here. Feeds the dogs, shoots monkeys and tourists then plays with the two dogs that live on the roof.

I feel at this point one long term goal is in sight now that mama will take food from the monks hand. Baby will figure it out in time after watching her mama-san . Monkey See Monkey Do, right ?

At this moment I'm really burnt out and need to stop typing. There is more good stuff to this story but I'll save that for the next dog photo ... Thanks for reading this text to the end ...;-)

Thank You All So Much.

bit of wear and tear over time, peeling cracking paint and boards, kind of interesting how it ages. Been about some while now!

Still growing and such a fun little guy.

Richie accepted Rusty #1 with lots of unconditional love right from the beginning. No wonder Rusty never became a totally people oriented cat. In this photo he's saying "I have everything I need, right here".

Cats I Have Loved set. (1993)

This was a first for me and I couldn't be happier on the way they turned out.

Amanda is normally a fashion model so when she asked me to do a shoot with her and her "4 legged child", I was all for it. After all, Duke acted just like a toddler coming into his "terrible twos".

They were such a blast to work with and I still can't get over the fact that Duke is only a year and a half old lol
