The picture to the left is the father holding the child weeks after she gave birth. This is a picture of the mother a few weeks before she gave birth.

I met Phoebe today at Aaron's framing store on La Brea
in Hollywood, where I went with my son Joshua to get
a photograph framed for an art show Saturday night.
Aaron's
is just north of Melrose, directly across the street from
the legendary Pink's hotdog stand, where the best hot
dogs in L.A. have been sold for decades.
Phoebe came in with her mom, Lucy, who sat her
darling daughter on the counter, where she waited
patiently as the one clerk there took care of many
people at once. Phoebe smiled at Joshua and at
me, and her mom asked how old Josh is - six -
and I asked about Phoebe's age - three - and
though I didn't say it, as it's a cliche, but true,
like many cliches, a three-year old becomes a
six-year old in a second, it seems. Maybe I didn't
want to say this because it means, I guess, that
a six-year old could become a nine-year old as
quickly.
Phoebe sat sweetly and quite happily,
smiling at everybody, as her mom fussed
over her, and told all of us how much she loves
Phoebe. And though I was in a rush, and didn't
want to distract the distracted clerk more than
he already was, I wanted to take Phoebe's photo,
and when I uncapped my camera and started
moving in her direction, Lucy said, "Do you want
to take her photo?"
I said I'd love to. Lucy said it
was okay.
I raised my camera to my eye, and Phoebe stared
at me with a startling stillness to discover in
a child, and a repose even most adults never
achieve. I took three photos of her, and she looked
at me with this wide-eyed gaze in each one,
never blinking it seemed, never changing her
expression.
Lucy asked me if I would email her the photo,
which I was more than happy to agree to do.
"I don't take
good photos," she said. "I do," I said,
knowing it's a boastful thing to say, but
I wanted her to know her daughter was in
good photographic hands, and that her trust
in me was well-founded. It's amazing to me how
an interaction that takes only minutes to occur
can result in a picture like this, which can
last for a lot longer.
Me and my son who has just started drum lessons . Hopefully it will help him connect with the world a little more. He's doing so well at school, totally proud of him
With his belly shaved for the ultrasound performed on him a few weeks ago, even he's had enough of this ridiculous cold.
I was pre-occupied with measuring the in-progress Zen garden for Elizabeth; I was designing a privacy fence that will go behind the Buddha statue. Looked around for Sam (at the venerable age of 16, he has a propensity for wandering off and forgetting where he is) and found him napping peacefully in front of Buddha. I guess he knows where he is .... in just the right spot. Couldn't resist snapping a few photos.

My second Shar-Pei (at 3.5 moths old) enjoying the mid-winter South African sun in my garden. The wild birds were making such a racket in the trees, that he decided to get up and take a look.

Who is this being
seeing, hearing, touching, feeling
the wonder of life?
From where does the flow of love arise?
Where does it go to?
Who is the great Lover in me?
Who guides my footsteps
in the direction of my dreams?
Who carries me through
the unbearable moments?
What force lifts my heart again
toward the impossible dream?
My mind tries to comprehend
an answer…
Realizes that in not being able to fully know,
Love can never be captured or possessed,
ever remaining free and flowing…
Awakening those who willingly participate
In the flowering of the questions -
Filling all deepest desires…
Showering ecstasy:
The Joy of life itself.

This posting is dedicated to all the amazing people who I’ve connected with lately who feel discouraged because they feel the love they give unconditionally doesn’t seem to come back. It has been my experience to look for that love in everyone and everything. Only when we realize that we exist within this love somehow, can we let go and fully be alive in it. Kabir says: “Do not sit on your doorstep. Go forth and bathe yourself in that rain.”
Respect!

When God created mothers of children with autism
He had been 6 days of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said:
"You cross a whole lot of time and work in these units'
"Do you have the specifications of this order already read?" Asked God tired.
"The mother of a child must have very good eyes,
so they can see how special her child,
when all blinded by the syndrome.
She has much more energy than is normally required
so she never gives up,
even when others do.
Her skin must be extra thick to endure all the injustice
and any criticism of her parenting skills.
I gave her an even stronger hearts
with a greater capacity to love and understand.
"God," said the angel as she touched his sleeve,
"You'd better get some rest and tomorrow to continue working.
"I can not," said God, "there are more autistic children than the world knows.
The angel flew slowly around the creature and studied it carefully.
Suddenly she stopped and leaned forward.
Her fingers glided across the cheek of the woman.
"They leak," said the angel, "I think you too long to have worked through
"That's not a leak" said God, "that's a tear.
"Where is that?" Asked the angel,
"I suppose for pent-up emotions,
for too much injustice,
for lack of understanding. "God.
"You're really brilliant," said the angel
God looked somber and leaned back in his chair.
"The tears I have not made," he said.....
"Not a cry for attention, but a scream for respect"
Original thanjavur paintings found on the wall of periya kovil (Brihadeeswarar Temple)..The real status of the paintings were pathetic then what you see here
Ten years ago we drove 500 miles through the night to save her from being killed. From the car ride home with complete strangers to every moment since, we can't think of a single thing she's ever done wrong. Mostly deaf now in addition to being blind for 6 years, she's still the most tranquil and trusting spirit I know. And a heck of a lot less trouble than those two brothers of hers. The three different glaucoma drops she gets three times a day are not really working to control the pressure in her eyes anymore and she's likely in a constant state of dull pain. We know her time is near and we just can't fathom the sadness that will surely come.
However cliché the term may be, life is most definitely a roller coaster, and the ride is a little more intense for some than it is for others. Throughout the lowest parts of this life-long roller coaster, we all need some kind of unconditional support -- a friend to lean on through even the hardest of times.
For many people, including these individuals whom I met on the streets of San Francisco, that unconditional friend is a dog. Circumstance has no bearing on a dog's ability to love its companion. As they watch the world busily move on without them, their mutual companionship provides perhaps the single unmovable anchor in each other's lives.
Many of the circumstances I witnessed there were depressing, but the will power and loyalty those same people demonstrated was even more inspiring. I sincerely hope the world becomes a better place for everyone who needs it -- keep on trucking with your best pal by your side :)

This little sweetheart just can't turn the corner on the horrible ulcerative colitis. Next step is a visit with an internal medicine specialist. Between Buster's torn ACL, Blue's eyes and little Bruno. I can't catch my breath.

I have just read the news story on our community newspaper. People are again found to be dumping the pet rabbits in Minoru Park.
The population of bunnies has been growing in Richmond especially in Minoru Park and Auto Mall areas.
The pet owners who abandon and dump their pets are doing cruelty to these animals since they are domesticated and it is rarely that they can survive on their own on the street or in the wild.
On the other hand I have read so many stories about pets are so loyal to the owners and they either refuse to eat or leave the place when the owner passes away etc.
The love these animals give to humans are unconditional and so real.
This is the bunny I saw at Minoru Park.
Have a great Sunday!
I have had this Love charm air freshener hanging in my car and it has lost its scent more than five years ago, all I have left is the beautiful plump red heart and the word love! Moral of the story is~> “Age does not protect us from love, but love to some extent protects us from age.” No matter what lifestyle we lead, there is no escape from age. We will at some point in our life, wake up and realize that we are no longer young, we will have to accept that our health is more fragile, our strength is less strong and our beauty is fading. We will have to accept the natural process of aging, and nothing in the world can stop that, but being in love keeps us young at heart, makes us age gracefully and keeps us healthier. Being surrounded by love will surround us by positive energy and will keep age to some extent away. But does age keep love away? No. Love has no age. You can fall in love and keep on loving those around you and life even if you live more than 200 years!
