I'm currently in Tokyo right now, sitting and waiting to leave for the Tsukiji fish market. This Flickr post is so current that I haven't even finished that coffee yet (only halfway through the bottle right now!) A cleaner, more put-together look at the new Ubuntu One Control Panel. I think it illustrates particularly well how much wasted space there is in the current design, as well as demonstrating what a difference can be made simply by consistently aligning elements.
What a mess! For those interested it is Ubuntu 9.04 running on old fashioned pentium 4 hardware with a ten year old Dell CRT monitor. All car boot kit bought for less than a fiver!

I downloaded a LiveCD of Kubuntu, a derivative of Ubuntu, the popular Linux distribution. I'm glad for LiveCDs which let me just play around with these newer desktop environments.
Um. Please can I fix this so that it doesn't say Solaris and Windows with HUGE graphics in Ubuntu? The answer is "maybe." /me face palms.

Ubuntu är ett gratis operativsystem med öppen källkod från Afrika. Den marknadsförs som den mest användarvänliga Linux-distributionen för vanliga hemmaanvändare.
Jag köpte ju en pc i våras av en kompis som skulle flytta till Australien och behövde pengar. Eftersom jag får utslag av Windows bad jag honom installera Ubuntu, som visade sig vara mycket enkel och sympatisk att arbeta med.
Nu visar det sig att man kan dricka Ubuntu också, i form av en rättvisemärkt cola. Inte nog med att sockerodlarna i Malawi och Zambia garanteras ”förbättrade arbets- och levnadsvillkor”, dessutom återinvesterar Ubuntu Trading ”15 procent av vinsten i dessa samhällen”.
Sånt tycker vi om.
Fast dricka den skulle jag aldrig göra. Räknar man bort vattnet så består den till 96 procent socker. Visserligen rättvisemärkt socker och inte sånt där otäckt sötningsmedel som många andra av dessa flytande hälsoförstörare innehåller.
