I tried to approach stealthily, but even though I had some foliage between us, this song sparrow knew I was there. I find that there follows a short time that, unless I move on, the bird will. This was during that window.

Unless we do something.!

This image was actually created for the SurrealArt Challenge "Life After People." I missed the deadline, but here it is anyway.

I know this is not to most people's taste, but that is just the point. Thank you for visiting and commenting.

I never seem to get the detail in these birds unless there is snow reflecting a ton of light.

I dearly love finding dandelions in my garden, whether they are the yellow flowers or the soft puffs of seeds ready to take to the wind. Generally I leave the dandelion there (unless I am removing weeds, and then I say goodbye to my little friends). However, this one time I decided to break the dandelion puff off of the stem to take inside the house for a photo session. The moment I removed the puff, the bottom of the stem curled into these two tightly wound circles. What a treat!

Unless you have children, then silence is just Suspicious.

Unless I have a massive change of heart this will be my last upload to Flickr. As you know at the beginning of 2019 all the rules for non pro accounts changed on Flickr. I already pay a monthly fee to a photo hosting site and do not want to pay another £38 ($50) per annum to Flickr.... it's not so much the money (less than £1 a week) but it's the principle of what Flickr have done and the way they have run roughshod over so many people.... But you never know I could be back and in the mean time I will be looking in at all your excellent uploads.

Thanks for all the views, 'favs', comments and encouragement it's very much appreciated....

Unless you are a local or have spent some time exploring The Cresent Junction Area you might not know about this hidden valley. This is not a secret place just somewhere most will not travel to see what's there because when you first enter the area it looks bland.

At the end of HWY 191 out of Moab you simply jump over HWY 70 and get on BLM 223. Stay on this for a great area to shoot in. Make sure you go early in the morning or late in the afternoon to get the best light.

I captured this in the late afternoon light which created great shadows and texture. Also, if you'd like to see the details of this beautiful landscape, zoom in.

Unless you plant some bulbs at intervals, the Daylily season is rather short and I planted the 6 bulbs I bought some years back all at the same time. I think I learnt my lesson !

Unless, that is, one is a hermit without any contact. What made me think when I saw this (Hellenistic or Roman) funerary stone in the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, is the fact that the living and the dead person are all depicted here. The whole family is represented. They are still together even after one of them has died. How different this is from today's iconography of death! Leica M8, Voigtlaender 35/1.4.

What’s so special about a stump noticed by chance

along the way? the bystander stops there,

likewise the photographer and the painter,

well ready to make a picture of it.

Not its present condition, I do believe, unless

we admit to be under the spell of the old

and discarded. Nor can it be its former

appearance, which we can only guess.

What if it is the pleasure felt at someone else’s misfortune?

Don't want to feel another touch

Don't want to start another fire

Don't want to know another kiss

No other name falling off my lips

Don't want to give my heart away

To another stranger

Or let another day begin

Won't even let the sunlight in

No I'll never love

I don't wanna know this feeling unless it's you and me

I don't wanna waste a moment

Hoooo ouuu

And I don't wanna give somebody else the better part of me

I would rather wait for you

Unless the colors pop! Nashville, Tennessee skyline and stuff!

Well, once again into the unknown. We thought about staying out here, but the camps in the backcountry here sell out months in advance, and we were informed that while we were allowed to do astro photography anywhere in the park, falling asleep while doing it is strictly prohibited unless sanctioned and paid for. This is some of the most remote desert in the southwest if you get deep enough, however, given the biological soil crusts (which can actually be seen on the left hand side of the photo in the light) the more people that walk around here off trail, essentially destroy desert habitat that took ages to build. Whenever I'm walking in the back country, I'm always aware of this face, as I'm often in a sensitive habitat. The biological soil is made of #cyanobacteria and often look like areas of dirty dirt, they also include the lichens, mosses, algae, microfungi, and bacteria (some of which is seen on the rocks in the foreground). What inspired this tree to reach so far with one of it's branches is beyond me... it clearly didn't work out. But despite the failure, this tree lives on in a formidable landscape environment, through epic storms, winter snow, and searing heat.

The Philosophical Hall at the Strahov Monastery, Prague, Czechia (the Czech Republic's official short name as of 2016)

(unless you made and paid for a reservation months beforehand, you are not allowed inside and can only admire the room from the doorway; photos can be taken only if you pay extra for a photo permit; best viewed enlarged for details)

Abbot Vaclav Mayer, during the last quarter of the 18th century, decided to build new library premises for the numerous acquisitions so he ordered the Philosophical Hall to be built by the naturalized Italian architect Johann Ignaz Palliardi. The hall is 32 meters long, 10 meters wide and 14 meters high, flanked on all sides by rich walnut wood bookcases. The highest shelves are only accessible from the gallery which is accessed by secret spiral staircases in both corners, masked by false book covers.

The ceiling was painted by Viennese artist Anton Maulbertsch over a period of 6 months, aided by only one assistant. The painting called The Spiritual Development of Mankind depicts the development of religion and science, guided by Divine Providence in the center of the painting, surrounded by virtues.

In the 19th century, Napoleon Bonaparte's wife Marie Louise visited the library and donated a four-volume work on Louvre museum paintings and Versailles gardens. The gift was stored in the tall bookcase that dominates the left side of the hall. On the top of the bookcase, there is a marble bust of Francis I, Emperor of Austria and Marie Louise's father.

The total number of volumes in the hall exceeds 50,000 works. In 2010, the Philosophical Hall was completely restored.

Unless we step into the uncharted territory of the gender revolution, we know exactly where we will be regressing. An all-powerful State that infantilises us, interferes in all our decisions for our own good and—under the pretext of protecting us—keeps us in a childish state of ignorance, fear of punishment and exclusion. The special treatment until now reserved for women, with shame as the primary tool for ensuring their isolation, passivity and lack of protest, could now be extended to all. To understand the mechanics of how women have been made to feel inferior, and induced to willingly maintain themselves in this state, is to understand how the entire population is kept under control. Capitalism is an egalitarian religion, in the sense that it demands general submission, making everyone feel trapped—as all women are.

Unless you prefer sunrises, then it's titled, "Sunrise Over the Columbia River". :) (Bungee Jump and Sunset DSC_9412.jpg)

Algarve, Portugal. A local man soaks up the morning sun in a deserted cove with only the crying of the gulls, the rocks, the sea, the sun and the sand. For all of you who long for the sun as I do, I hope you can feel the warmth of that beautiful early May morning , when I shot this scene nearly six years ago.

I found this photo in my archives and processed it using Topaz Glow (Into the Light) and a lightly applied texture of my own.

As always, thanks for looking and for all your support. Hope you have a lovely weekend (unless you need rain) !
