Happy 95th Birthday Dear Michael.... and many more xxxx
Our dear friend Michael who is in phenomenal mood and shape is celebrating his birthday today. We were hoping a "Happy Birthday" song could be performed for him ... The bird migration is pretty slow right now but, the Red-winged Blackbird showed up and provided one of its best performance ... The Red-winged Blackbird is pretty common at this time of the year and not too intimidated by the bird paparazzi. However, I promise that this will be my "one and only" Red-winged Blackbird rendition this year, unless off course, there is a better singer showing up :)

This store or gas station has been closed for many years. It is on a corner of two rural roads. Location is key, unless there isn’t a village. The cinderblock building is still very sturdy, but the porch is showing its age.
for unless he finds what it is that excites him, what it is that calls forth at once an emotional response, he is unlikely to achieve his best work :-)

All matter, unless at the lowest temperature absolute, emits light (or, radiation). The hotter, the more so. As long as light is visible - and it does not matter where it comes from - we can use it for photography, generally speaking. In this specific case, however, the light source does not agree with my electronic shutter ("banding") so that the mechanical shutter was used. Fuji X-E3 plus Samyang tele lens at F5.6.
Happy Fence Friday!
Unless I find time to get out and shoot this weekend, I will have to post some more images from last years files ( and there are still plenty left)!

They are frequently overlooked, unless they happen to be growing in large clusters like this. But for those who are willing to slow down and appreciate the beauty of small things, they can be quite stunning. These were growing under a small cypress tree in the hundreds...I have been trying to widen the "look" of my fungi photos as I think they are kind of blending in with all of the other photographers here on Flickr that are photographing them too...I think it's important as a photographer to reinvent yourself every so often...(: I have a huge part of myself that always wants to be original which I battle with once in awhile, it makes me work harder as an artist and keeps me searching for my own trademark. I am getting so nervous as the mycology show creeps closer because as some of you know, no matter how many people say you are great you can be your own worst enemy and doubt yourself in what you thought you were good at...
Human nature... the survival instinct makes us selfish and even cruel at times.
We use categories to classify things and people we encounter... it's how our mental models are built...
And then we try to optimize these models by using stereotypes... it's a slippery slope and prejudice and abuse are on the ugly side of it.
Change starts from within, from one's own self... racism and other discrimination will not disappear unless we accept that stereotyping has limits... it will not disappear if we don't start to cooperate, change and evolve... and hopefully one day erase these stereotypes.
This image was taken at Zoo Miami, in Miami FL. I believe this young Asian elephant's name is Ongard, but I am not sure. He is the youngest Asian elephant that I saw during my visit so unless there is another one behind the scenes, it stands to reason that this is him. If so, he was brought to Zoo Miami from Australia last May and he was much smaller at the time :)
Asian and African elephants are both represented at this zoo, each having their own habitat. The Asian elephants seemed to be covered in red clay dust while the African elephants powdered themselves in more of a light gray dust. That's just one difference in the customized habitats. Overall, I believe the zoo did a nice job with both habitats.
Have a sensational Saturday and as always, happy snapping.

Sounds like a name for a solicitor's business. Moody and Grey. Hmmm. Well, things are not so great. I'm sat at home isolating, surrounded by three others coughing and spitting Covid around the place. I have a tickle and a frog in my throat but keep testing "negative". The others are suffering, and reading that is how so many others start before becoming serious is a constant worry. My wife is double jabbed but still has it. So much stuff about why you shouldn't get the jab, but I have noticed I've never heard anyone who has had Covid who has said you shouldn't get the jab. Unless they died of a blood clot. Oh what misery. Only a full blooded visit to the slate quarries of Snowdonia will cleanse my mind.

In the period of the year with the shortest days, Gracie (and Millie) does not use the dinner table chairs. When the days grow longer, she resumes spending time on these chairs (including at night). Unless she is sleeping, she frequently hangs over the front left corner of the seat. Taken by Edgar.

I dearly love finding dandelions in my garden, whether they are the yellow flowers or the soft puffs of seeds ready to take to the wind. Generally I leave the dandelion there (unless I am removing weeds, and then I say goodbye to my little friends). However, this one time I decided to break the dandelion puff off of the stem to take inside the house for a photo session. The moment I removed the puff, the bottom of the stem curled into these two tightly wound circles. What a treat!
