University Apartments in Chicago (1961). They were designed by I. M. Pei in 1961. In the late 1950s, Hyde Park began a socioeconomic decline. It was rumored that the University of Chicago intended to seek a new home. In response, the city stepped in and demolished a row of taverns to make way for a new work by a renowned architect. To this day, the University of Chicago is famous for its lack of drinking establishments.
Fireworks display on the Highfield campus, at the University of Southampton. For most shots, I was standing on a ladder and using a 3m high Manfrotto tripod. Used a flashlight to "paint" the crowd in.
Oxford's University Museum comprises a fine natural history collection housed in a stunning piece of Victorian gothic architecture. Built between 1855-60, the main facade gives little indication of the extraordinary interior, centred on a main hall spanned by a dramatic glazed roof supported by cast iron columns. The juxtaposition of all this Victoriana and the massive skeletons of dinosaurs and other large beasts makes a visit here an unforgettable experience.
The rich collections housed in such an ornate building bring to mind the renowned Natural History Museum in London, and there is likewise much fine decorative detail to enjoy in the building's capitals and other carved details.
At the back of the main hall a door leads through to the Pitt-River's Museum, a darkened room crammed full of display cases containing a wealth of artefacts from distant cultures across the globe.

The Victoria Building (University College, Liverpool),, Brownlow Hill
architect : Alfred Waterhouse
built : 1887-1892
English Heritage listed Grade II
I think the Victoria building has long suffered as a result of having its entrance on Brownlow Hill - not the most pedestrian friendly thoroughfare with its windswept pavements and fast noisy traffic. Switching the entrance to the pedestrianised and more sheltered Ashton Street side has improved things considerably.
