Koning Lodewijk Napoleon koos in 1807 Utrecht als zijn residentie. Voor zijn paleis kocht hij een aantal panden, o.a. aan de Drift, en liet de "'grande galerie" en hofkapel nieuw bouwen. Onder leiding van J.D. Zocher sr. was zijn paleis snel gereed, hij woonde er echter maar een paar maanden. De balzaal werd in 1817 verbouwd tot bibiliotheek voor de universiteit. Vanaf 1960 was de grande galerie alleen nog maar in gebruik als boekenopslag. Met de recente verbouwing zijin de galerie en de voormalige kapel weer onderdeel van de bibliotheek.
This former Monastery (Monastero di Sant'Agostino) now is accomodating the university of Bergamo. I made a HDR combination and reduced color intensity to show the fine structures of wall of this beautiful building.

On Weserstraße with its numerous shops, the magnificent gable of house number 11 catches the eye. The university commissions have been located here since the 17th century.
It served as an inn and student residence for the "Academia Ernestina".

The University of Wrocław is a public research university located in Wrocław, Poland. Founded in 1702, it is one of the oldest collegiate-level institutions of higher education in Central Europe with around 30,000 students (2012). Throughout its history, it remained a great learning center of a German-speaking countries until territorial changes of Germany after World War II. Following the territorial changes of Poland after World War II academics primarily from Jan Kazimierz University of Lwów restored the university building heavily damaged and split as a result of the Siege of Breslau (1945). The first lectures were conducted in the halls with broken windows.
The University is currently the largest in Lower Silesia with over 100,000 graduates since 1945 including some 1,900 researchers among whom many received the highest awards for their contribution to the development of scientific scholarship
