A small collection of handpainted boat-names, something I feel takes skill and experience to get looking nice.
This typography piece was inspired by the opposing characteristics of stale and fresh. I focused on this theme as the contrast between the techniques and colours would created a bold text that would be easily read by the audience. To create this piece I cut out the typography and tea-stained, burnt and rubbed dirt into each letter to create an organically stale look. I contrasted this with fresh and colourful flowers which I pressed into a scanner to create an interesting flattened effect. To ensure the letters were of a high quality, I then edited them in Adobe Photoshop which kept it easy to read.
Half of the local gas station (which seems to be the hub of all activity) is devoted to a collection of cheap, dusty glassware and souvenirs like a large Nutcracker ballet music box and Avon bubble bath in bottles that they stopped making when I was a child. A grimy display of watch bands on the wall declares that they fit "all popular watches!"
This is one postcard out of a series with interesting typographic layout. The series of postcards together are supposed to tell a story. Laid down together, the postcards form a cool typographic poster
I photographed an Image that had an interesting structure. I used this as a basis and created my name by editing them on Photoshop.
Typography Project 2
Concept: A fairly simple typography project based off of my passion for the simplistic nature in some items. I wanted to do a project that wasn't fancy, that wasn't out there, that was just a simple study of an item we use every day and very often take for granted.

my grandfather used to be a typographer in the local newspaper before he retired. before everything became digital, being a typographer was a specialized occupation. recently, the association of retired typographers opened up an exhibition at the local museum showing the art and technique of arranging letters in order to print a newspaper. it is pretty impressive!
