An assignment I received in Typography.

The goal was to create an Illuminated Letter Illustration with a randomly assigned letter.
I was given Q, and making a queen was the only thing I could think of. It draws inspiration from the early concept drawings for "Its a Small World" and in terms of color direction could be considered quite feminine.

I found this nifty book from 1951 about lettering, fonts and typography for just $1. I think it's really cool, but I'm dorky like that.
I've never seen an example of not thinking ahead quite this egregious. Seen at the 2011 Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island, Nebraska.
You may want to call the United Way to find out who did this sign so you can avoid them in the future.
This is a type installation on a 18 x 10' wall - a list of all of my addictions. The more delicate the information, the smaller the type.

This exhibition — “Republish: Typography As...” is an effort of the team behind Republish to see the typefaces in action, while treading the border of art & design. A variety of notions are investigated through the artworks, such as
[1] the juxtaposition of heritage and contemporary,
[2] the physical materialism of type, and
[3] the collective memory of cultural heritage and artifacts.
Cable Thief is the new typeface from Studio Disjointed that forms as part of an obsession with typography and the overhead power cables found across the rail network.
In the UK the theft of cable from rail networks has become a widespread problem that costs the network financially but also impacts directly on those using the service for travel.
The typeface is an experiment that looks at aspects of itself that are missing, the fragility of the font is held together by cables and pulleys. Without these the typeface would collapse.

i've been making these cards for a while but i finally got around to taking a picture of them. i use vintage maps and cut out stencils and then sew on them.
