This is my first attempt at doing hand-drawn typography. It's for an upcoming t-shirt design.
It was a fun experiment, and it's always nice to incorporate hand-drawn elements into graphic design.

This typography project is a silhouette of Coco Chanel, the first woman fashion designer. She is an inspirational woman of our time and helped to pave the way for woman professionals. Coco did this with elegance and a stoicism unseen in her day. The type making up her outline is all cursive and feminine to emphasize her grace. She was also never seen without numerous strands of pearls and a cigarette in her mouth, which I purposely made extra bold to highlight their presence. All of the writings are famous quotes by Coco Chanel, including her most recognized "A woman should be two things: classy and fabulous."

That's what the typography in this headline is. Check that out... they didn't halfass this. That's WORK, and it's awesome. No pre-made "stress font" garbage. Click to view at full size.
Detail from an early 20th century carriage at the Rail Heritage WA museum in Bassendean. The "2nd" denotes a carriage for second-class passengers. The elegant art deco typography is typical for the period.
It's hard to tell from the photo, but this looks like it was hand painted over stencils. check out the varying serifs, like on the 'd.' And look at how the descender of the 'g' thins right before the bulb. Pretty cool.

An old photo from my last trip to Montreal: Frankensteinian typography on a Hydro Quebec building in the lower Plateau. The t, both r's, and the i look to have been jury-rigged from random scrap. The minuscule, askew dot on the i may be my favorite feature.
Typographic Book done on Goudy Old Style for my Typography 2415 course at the University of Colorado Denver. The book is originally 20 pages, shown here is the front and back cover of the accordion book. Originally presented as a print for the final piece, this here is the digital format. My concept of the cover design of the owl and sheep relates to the quote "Any man who would letterspace blackletter would shag sheep" by Frederic W. Goudy himself. This was created with InDesign and Illustrator.
