Cable Thief is the new typeface from Studio Disjointed that forms as part of an obsession with typography and the overhead power cables found across the rail network.
In the UK the theft of cable from rail networks has become a widespread problem that costs the network financially but also impacts directly on those using the service for travel.
The typeface is an experiment that looks at aspects of itself that are missing, the fragility of the font is held together by cables and pulleys. Without these the typeface would collapse.
Cable Thief will soon be available on print and T-Shirts through our face book page..

This exhibition — “Republish: Typography As...” is an effort of the team behind Republish to see the typefaces in action, while treading the border of art & design. A variety of notions are investigated through the artworks, such as
[1] the juxtaposition of heritage and contemporary,
[2] the physical materialism of type, and
[3] the collective memory of cultural heritage and artifacts.

Pamela comes from an old printed book of "Pamela, or the virtue rewarded", written by Samuel Richardson in 1740. This voluptuous and generous typeface was designed for small sizes texts. He is ideal for spritual just as for epicurean universes. The gesture was kept in reminder of innocent smiles.
I have been busy these past few weeks working on a pretty huge project for Handmade Nation. The awesome documentary is going to have a companion book published by Princeton Architectural Press. These few photos are samples of hundreds of drawings of the names of the people that will be represented in the book and film. I am also working on a new wave craft timeline as well. Wheeee!
The building where I work is s former department store and warehouse. All the stairwells have these great old signs (in various states of decay) and I've always meant to snap a photo of one.
