Experimenting with letters for a typography project.

More details here.

An experimental typographic project at SCAD where we were asked to select a random tag line and try to express it though typography.

"Singing the body electric" was the headline of an article I found which summarized the debate on whether the human body produced electrical current. Its a nod to “I sing the body electric”, an erotic poem by Walt Whitman in which he celebrates the divine sensuality of flesh and bone.

Figuring out the weight, widths and overshoot of the extrabold weight. Caps are falling slowly into place.

2. Fonts such as Garamond, Helvetica, Universe, etc were traced onto a tracing sheet for lettering and font analysis.

3. Criticisms from professors and colleagues, scanned copies of test papers, and any revisions made along the process of making the book were printed on coloured papers.

4. I overlapped Helvetica and Universe, fonts that I usually thought are very similar, to compare and find any contrasting features.

I used gimp to make a typography face

My first tryout in making a typography graphic. I kind of like this one, so I'll probably make more typographies using Glee song lyrics & quotes. I make this a little grungy because the song is kind of rock-ish, so yeah.

Finally got around to downloading Google's Chrome browser just so I could try out that Arcade Fire interactive Google Maps html5 video (www.thewildernessdowntown.com). It's pretty cool - I loved the part where you got to write a postcard of advice to the younger you that lived in your childhood home. In the Google Maps view, I saw that the large area of dense forest that was by my old house, and which used to kind of scare me, is still there so I wrote: "explore the forest". By coincidence, the branchy font totally matched what I wrote. I took a screen capture of it because I thought it was beautiful.

Make Something Cool Every Day is a personal, (ideally-) daily design exercise wherein I churn out type-centric black and white drabbles using song titles, the Univers type family (Kozuka Gothic for Japanese type) and some wonderful public domain images. (IMG )

j } a part of my birthday gift from kat. tote from Uppercase.

An art deco inspired Christmas card I made at school. The hardest part was also the most exciting part, since I love typography. ^_^

I spent quite some time making this, so it's watermarked for a reason...

P.S. I've uploaded another version of this Christmas card, which looks a lot better. It's in my school work set. :)
