Two insects on one Flowe

A wonderful chance encounter between two different generations of Northern Counties-bodied rear-engined double-deckers on Greenleach Lane in Worsley. On the right is preserved Lancashire United 97 (561 TD), a 1962 Daimler Fleetline, parked up for a photo stop on an enthusiasts’ tour and displaying route 12 for Bolton. Meanwhile, former GM Standard Atlantean, 4549 (ANA 549Y) in the First Manchester fleet, passes by on service on the same route.

I've wanted a pair of these American Apparel tights for a while and now I finally have a pair. The only problem is, I can't decide which pair of Converse looks best with them. So please leave a comment on whichever you thinks works.

When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly

"I've been making a list of the things they don't teach you at school. They don't teach you how to love somebody. They don't teach you how to be famous. They don't teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don't teach you how to walk away from someone you don't love any longer. They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing." ~ Neil Gaiman

Yellow Robin

The mineral 'pyrite', or 'iron pyrite', also known as 'fool's gold', is an iron sulfide with the formula FeS2.

This mineral's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold.

The color has also led to the nicknames brass, brazzle, and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal.

Tipitakadhara Memorial Pagoda, Mingun, Burma

The Tipitakadhara Memorial Pagoda, Mingun, Burma is a memorial Pagoda decicated to the Mingun Sayadaw. The Venerable Mingun Sayadaw (1 November 1911 – 9 February 1993) was a Burmese Theravada Buddhist monk, best known for his memory skills and his role in the Sixth Buddhist Council. In 1985, the Guinness Book of Records recorded the sayadaw as a record holder in the Human memory category. The exact entry was Human memory: Bhandanta Vicitsara (sic) recited 16,000 pages of Buddhist canonical text in Rangoon, Burma in May 1954. Rare instances of eidetic memory -- the ability to project and hence "visually" recall material-- are known to science.

For what may be the last weekend you'll ever see two Vulcan Bombers together at RAF Waddington, XM607, the 'gate guardian' is first in line, then the only air worthy Vulcan XH558 sits behind, waiting for the weekend display schedule for the 2014 RAF Waddington Airshow in Lincolnshire. The 2015 show is not going ahead as the runways are being relaid and it won't be completed in time for when the airshow is due.

So the next airshow is scheduled for 2016 and by then XH558 will also no longer be flying - probably.

Berlin boasts two zoological gardens, a consequence of decades of political and administrative division of the city. The older one, called Zoo Berlin, founded in 1844, is situated in what is now called the "City West". It is the most species-rich zoo worldwide. The other one, called Tierpark Berlin ("Animal Park"), was established on the long abandoned premises of Friedrichsfelde Manor Park in the eastern borough of Lichtenberg, in 1954. Covering 160 ha, it is the largest landcape zoo in Europe.

(Tierpark Berlin)

The unique animal world of the Himalayas has now found its way into an area of 60,000 m². Climbers will not only encounter well-known mountain dwellers such as red pandas, snow leopards and bearded vultures, but also lesser-known species such as takin, goral, Pallas'scat and satyr tragopan. After a construction period of just over a year, the 60-metre-high mountain of rubble was transformed into an Asian mountain landscape with numerous new vantage points. Around 100 individuals from 22 different animal species - most of them endangered in the wild - have found their new home in Berlin's high mountains. (Source: Tierpark Berlin)
