Aeroflot
Zürich-Kloten (ZRH/LSZH)
01 July 1984
Out of almost 1,000 IL76s built, Soviet-era Aeroflot operated some 50 examples of the rugged transporter on cargo services. The TD-variant was an improved version of the IL-76T (T for civil transport), which first flew in 1982. Powered by four Soloviev D-30 turbofan engines, the aircraft quite closely resembles the Lockheed C-141A Starlifter.
CCCP-76467 was one of many TD models in Aeroflot service, and became a regular at Zürich on the weekly Air India cargo service that Aeroflot operated for the Indian flag carrier for a while. Delivered in September 1982, it was seen on finals to runway 14, showing full soviet-era Aeroflot livery. There were no traces whatsoever of Air India, as this service was operated by a variety of airframes.
CCCP-76467 became RA-76467 with Aeroflot in 1992, and was last reported as stored at Moscow-Sheremetyevo in 2002, officially retired in 2003 as life-time expired, cancelled in 2004 and broken-up the same year.
A capture of the engines of EK002 A380. Absolutely fascinating that these beast keep us in the air as we travel to exotic places in comfort.
The A380 is available with two types of turbofan engines, the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 (variants A380-841, −842 and −843F) or the Engine Alliance GP7000 (A380-861 and −863F). The Trent 900 is a derivative of the Trent 800, and the GP7000 has roots from the GE90 and PW4000. The Trent 900 core is a scaled version of the Trent 500, but incorporates the swept fan technology of the stillborn Trent 8104.
The GP7200 has a GE90-derived core and PW4090-derived fan and low-pressure turbo-machinery. Noise reduction was an important requirement in the A380 design, and particularly affects engine design. Both engine types allow the aircraft to achieve well under the QC/2 departure and QC/0.5 arrival noise limits under the Quota Count system set by Heathrow Airport, which is a key destination for the A380. The A380 has received an award for its reduced noise. However, field measurements suggest the approach quota allocation for the A380 may be overly generous compared to the older Boeing 747, but still quieter. Rolls-Royce is supporting CAA in understanding the relatively high A380/Trent 900 monitored noise levels.
The A380 was initially planned without thrust reversers, incorporating sufficient braking capacity to do without them. However Airbus elected to equip the two inboard engines with thrust reversers in a late stage of development, helping the brakes when the runway is slippery. The two outboard engines do not have reversers, reducing the amount of debris stirred up during landing. The A380 has electrically actuated thrust reversers, giving them better reliability than their pneumatic or hydraulic equivalents, in addition to saving weigh

The DC-10 Air Tanker is a series of 5 air tankers converted by American joint technical venture 10 Tanker Air Carrier, which have been in service as aerial firefighting aircraft since 2006. The aircraft are converted McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30s used to fight wildfires. The turbofan-powered aircraft carry up to 9,400 US gallons (35,583 liters) of water or fire retardant in an exterior belly-mounted tank, the contents of which can be released in eight seconds. Four air tankers are currently in operation, all DC-10-30 aircraft, with the call-signs Tanker 910, 911, 912 and 914. The original Tanker 910, a DC-10-10, was retired in 2014

The world's largest passenger airliner.
The full-length double-deck aircraft has a typical seating for 525 passengers, with a maximum certified capacity for 853 passengers. The quadjet is powered by Engine Alliance GP7200 or Rolls-Royce Trent 900 turbofans providing a range of 8,000 nmi (14,800 km).
The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark, introduced in the 1960s, featured a maximum speed of Mach 2.5, powered by twin afterburning turbofans. Its variable-sweep wings enhanced versatility for both low-level penetration and high-altitude missions. Armed with a 20mm M61 Vulcan cannon and capable of carrying a variety of bombs and missiles, the F-111 excelled in precision strike capabilities.

The Handley-Page Victor K.2 tanker evolved from the original Victor B.2, ‘V’-bomber, which entered service with the Royal Air Force in October 1961. The first K.2 flew at Woodford on 1 March 1972. It had a crew of five, and was powered by four Rolls-Royce Conway turbofans of 20,600 lb thrust each. It had a maximum speed of 640 mph (Mach 0.92) at 40,000 feet, a ceiling of 59,000 feet and a range of 3,500 miles.
Victor K.2s made a substantial contribution in the Falklands War, flying over 3,000 hours and making over 600 air refuelling sorties from Ascension Island, in support of the Vulcans, Nimrods, Hercules and Harriers. They also flew in the Gulf War, refuelling the Tornado and other allied aircraft. The Victor’s outstanding versatility and advanced design enabled it to have the longest service of all the ‘V-bomber’ generation.
XL231 joined 139 Squadron on 1 February 1962, returning to Handley-Page for conversion to a B(S.R) Mk 2 in November 1963 and joining the Wittering Wing in July 1964. It was converted to become the prototype K.2 Tanker on 23 January 1972 and saw service in the Falklands War, in support of the ‘Operation Black Buck’ Vulcan raid on Port Stanley, and later in the Gulf War. It was flown into retirement at Elvington in November 1993. The aircraft is kept in ground operational condition by Andre Tempest and his ground crew.

A handsome visitor from Azerbaijan settling down onto RWY 23 after a ferry flight from Baku (GYD/UBBB). Even though the Il-76 is nowadays almost a common sight in Europe, upgraded versions are still few and far in between, with 4K-AZ100 being only the second ever to pop into Zagreb. The most successful of all the type's modernization programs, the -90 series involves replacing the original Soloviev D-30KP low-bypass turbofans with mode modern, quiet and economical Aviadvigatel PS-90A series units, as seen on both the Il-96-300 and the Tu-204/214. Apart from burning cleaner and making the aircraft harder to spot from a distance, the new powerplant is also certified to Stage IV noise standards, allowing the -90 easy access into even the most noise-restricted airports in the West. Indeed, this huge hunk of Russian metal is now, formally, quieter than an MD-80!
Other improvements include a full glass cockpit and drastically upgraded navigation and communication equipment, as well as aircraft monitoring systems that reduce - but not eliminate - the work traditionally done by the flight engineer. New gadgets also include a more modern and compact weather radar, which is responsible for a notable visual curiosity - the absence of the type's characteristic chin, used to house the original (and quite large!) Soviet-era unit.

The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin turbofan engine, straight wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force. It is commonly referred to by the nicknames "Warthog" or "Hog", although the A-10's official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, a World War II fighter-bomber effective at attacking ground targets. The A-10 was designed for close air support of friendly ground troops, attacking armoured vehicles and tanks, and providing quick-action support against enemy ground forces. It entered service in 1976 and is the only production-built aircraft that has served in the USAF that was designed solely for CAS. This A10 is one of two returning to RAF Lakenheath after a short local flight whilst stopping in Britain for a couple of air show's.

A Superhornet breaking the sound barrier causing the vapor in the air to condense. It was a rather overcast day with a lot of moisture in the air.
From superhornets.8m.com..
Propulsion: The Super Hornets (models E and F) have two F414-GE-400 turbofan engines that can lift the fighter into the air and maintain speeds of Mach 1.8. Each turbofan produces 22,000 pounds of thrust which combined is more than enough for the light-weight Super Hornet. The Super Hornet has greater engine power and uses less parts than its predecessor the Hornet, a major positive when repairs are needed.
Primary Function: The new and improved Super Hornet is mainly a multi-role attack aircraft as well as a fighter aircraft. Primarily used by the United States Navy, the Super Hornet has proven excellent for use on aircraft carriers and has been very efficient in maneuverability.
Armament & Weapons: The Super Hornet (E) has a crew of one, the pilot, navigator, and weapons operator all in one. The Super Hornet (F) has a crew of two, easing the pressure that would normally be placed on the one pilot in the E class. The Super Hornet has one Vulcan 20 mm cannon. For an external payload the Super Hornet displays Sidewinders, Sparrows, AMRAAM, Harpoons, Harms, Shrikes, SLAM, Walleye, Maverick missiles, JSOW, JDAM, and other various purpose bombs, mines, and rockets.
