The London Tube is not one of the most glorious for photography, but there are a few hidden gems like this one at Gants Hill.
A photograph of the tube the underground subway system. While on vacation we used the tube to get around. This is an amazing subway system. Everything connects to everything a must to experience.
Cerianthus filiformis is a species of tube-dwelling sea anemone in the family Cerianthidae. It is found throughout the tropical waters of the western Indo-Pacific Ocean. The tube anemone has a stretched and muscularised body which can reach 35 cm. Its body has the shape of a large polyp with numerous mobile tentacles. The colors of the tentacles can be white, green, orange or purple and the central tentacles may have a different coloration from the marginal tentacles. They feed on all the small-sized and edible drifting food that passes within the reach of its tentacles. It protects itself from predators by retracting back into the tube, which can reach up to 100 cm in length. The animal shows only its tentacles to feed, usually at night time. We pulled out the kitty play tubes for the first time in a while, Toast was quite curious. Once he realized they weren't going to eat him whole, he quite enjoyed himself in there :-). Happy Caturday!
What an amazing spray of delightful tiny five-petaled flowers! With long sweeping filaments that glisten in the morning sunlight! A floral pagoda indeed!
An erect, open semiwoody shrub with large evergreen leaves and huge showy clusters of orange-red or scarlet flowers held above the foliage. The bush sometimes has multiple stems and gets to be 3-5 ft tall and 2-3 ft across. The handsome, tropical leaves can be as large as 12 in across, they have heart shaped bases; lower leaves are lobed and upper leaves entire. They are arranged in opposite pairs along the fast growing stems which often branch from the roots rather than from a single trunk.
The flowers are funnel shaped with long tubes. The flowers within the pyramid-shaped cluster are tiered like a Japanese pagoda. The showy display lasts from summer through autumn with sporadic flowering throughout the year in frost free climates.
