"Think not that God doth not heed the deeds of those who do wrong. He but giveth them respite against a Day when the eyes will fixedly stare in horror,- They running forward with necks outstretched, their heads uplifted, their gaze returning not towards them, and their hearts a (gaping) void!" GORDAN TRIANGLE

.07 acre

Private Edward F. Gordan, a native of Long Island City, grew up at 44 Sherman Place. Private Gordan served in the United States Army as a member of Company C of the 165th Infantry. He was killed in action in World War I, on July 30, 1918. This small triangle lies at the intersection of Vernon Boulevard, 44th Drive, and 10th Street

First called Cassidy Angle before it was renamed Gordan Triangle, the jurisdiction of this property was for many years in dispute. On July 11, 1911 the Queens Department of Parks separated from the Brooklyn-Queens Department of Parks. On July 14, when Walter G. Eliot, the new Queens Commissioner of Parks took office, he reported, “four unnamed parks.” Having assumed that this land was Parks property, the 1912 Annual Report of the Queens Department of Parks recorded the land as “an eyesore,” and soon thereafter drew up plans for reconstruction, including the installation of iron picket fencing, lighting, and planting. Among these unnamed parks was the land that is now Gordan Triangle. Although Parks and the City of New York treated this land as their own for years, its title was not officially vested in the City until March 3, 1917.

The property was first called Cassidy Angle after Joseph Cassidy (1860-1920), the second Borough President of Queens. Cassidy was a Long Island City native who grew up in the Blissville area, where he became a florist. From 1902 to 1905, Cassidy served as Borough President of Queens and quickly became became infamous as a scandalous politician. When he was running for re-election in 1905, the New York City Commissioner of Accounts discovered Cassidy’s many corrupt activities, and ended his political career. In 1915, Cassidy was convicted of having sold a United States Supreme Court nomination for $25,000. He was sentenced to 18 months in Sing-Sing prison, but was released on parole after only a year. He then moved to Rockaway, where he became a real estate agent and died at the age of 60 on November 21, 1920.

Gordan Triangle took its present name on June 14, 1932. The Board of Alderman voted to honor of Private Edward F. Gordan in order to “pay tribute to the memory of one who was born, educated and spent his youth in Queens County, and who made the supreme sacrifice in the World War”.

In October, 1979, Parks sponsored the renovation of Gordan Triangle, after which the park was officially dedicated at a ceremony attended by Parks Commissioner Gordon J. Davis. In 1998, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani sponsored another $35,000 reconstruction of the triangle’s sidewalks and pavements, and installation of new benches. Gordan Triangle, a little oasis of greenery, flies an American flag in patriotic tribute to the Private’s memory.

Cut out myriad triangles out of my "visual journal" on 5 pages, each page with another iteration of the fractal.

0st page - Cut 1 trangle, result 1 triangle

1nd Page -Cut 3 triangles (resulting in 5)

2rd Page - Cut 9 trianges (resulting in 14)

3th page - Cut 27 triangles (resulting in 41)

4th page - Cut 81trianges (resulting in 122)

Equation 3^n =Cut

Also, I noticed that if you add the result of the previous page with the current "cut" number, you get the result of the current page...
