6 equilateral triangles are glued so that it makes a hexagon "hole" . The length of every side being overlapped is exactly half of the side length of the equilateral triangle. If the area of one triangle is 120 cm^2, how many squared centimeters is the area of the hexagon?

This past week I was on vacation with my family visiting my brother in the Seattle area ... Armed with nothing but a pack of 6" kami to keep myself entertained during the long plane & car rides, this was one of the resulting tessellations...
The planning of this particular tessellation consumed a majority of my folding-time over the past week... I came up with my first rough draft for this prior to leaving, and proceeded to fold it out of the vellum stuff that my first tess was folded from, only to get very frustrated with the material during collapsing, and to be unsatisfied with the end result.
I vowed to redesign it and fold it from better paper, but of course 6" kami was my only resource... This version has some layers rearranged and some points unsunk from the original version... The other notable improvement is that I planned out the grid to have the tessellation centered (since the center of each propeller is NOT at the intersection on the grid, I had previously ignored trying to place the tess symmetrically on the grid)...
This was folded from a 44-triangle grid (yes, I had to fold 11ths >_<)... I plan on making a bigger one with more propellers that requires a grid of 74ths (thus requiring 37ths, ugh)...
The summer triangle is a grouping of three of the brightest stars in the northern hemisphere summer sky. A 30 second exposure taken with a Tamron 10-24mm lens on a tripod using a remote swtich. Type L for a better view.

Another assembly of triangular frames. Each of the 4 Triangular frames are from single strips - Grey= 27cm, Blue= 33.75cm, Red= 46.5cm and Brown= 70.5cm. The common width is 4cm. Another larger triangular frame can be added to the Brown frame. Theoretically, subsequent larger frames can be added all the way to the moon, stars and to the end of the universe! But for practical purpose, I must stop here.
The assignment for this fortnight in Studio 26 is triangles in composition. Part of that is analysis of photos we've already taken, or take for the assignment.

I made thid version using Heinz Strobl's Knotology method with 10 strips of paper. Each face had four strips crossing over it, and rather than right triangle each face is an isosceles triangle of 45 degrees.
This is a second photo that I took on Women's Day. I spent a long time trying to find the right angle to capture the entire bouquet, as well as the beautiful spring morning through the window. Despite my efforts, it didn't work. In the end, a close-up provided the composition I was seeking, focusing on the triangle of small white-yellow daisies.
Trying to get back into Macro Monday habit - triangles was a hard theme to start with! Hopefully these count as triangles. This is from a succulent plant that blooms every so often with these tiny clusters of these tiny pink flowers. They're fuzzy-petaled. I have no idea what kind of plant it is, but it is always an awesome surprise when it blooms. Especially on triangle week.
After seeing needleanddime's Sleepy Hollow quilt, I wanted to, and could not help starting my own.
I am using fabrics from my stash, no new prints purchased for this quilt top. Most of the fabrics are from the 90's and some newer civil war type prints I have been collecting. There will be no fabric from my mom's stash, but I am using at least 3 prints both mom and I bought when we shopped together.
