Views of and from the Tree Top Walk. This is the WA's best kept secret attraction as far as we are concerned in the UK. I only knew of it from reading Bill Bryson's book "Down Under"....thanks Bill!

It is certainly a "not to be missed" experience.

The Tree Top Walk, is a series of sixty-metre, lightweight steel trusses built on steel pylons to form a secure ramp.

Beginning at the Tingle Shelter, you can walk along a 420-metre-long steel-truss walkway which leads over a deep, red tingle gully.

The highest point in the 600-metre loop is about 40 metres.

And all for only $8!!

Tree Top Walk, Lamington National Park, Australia

The Guadeloupe National Park (french Caribbean), situated in the South West part of the island, covers the central mountainous spine of the island, its volcanos and luxuriant rainforest. The Parc des Mamelles Tree Top Walk is a unique and innovative structure in the Caribbean, that gives visitors the breathtaking experience of observing life in the rainforest canopy at close range.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taking snaps along the small walkway platfrom at the white water river rapids below....makes me feel small against the mother nature.

I leaned over the guardrail of the platform walk, suspended 40 metres above this casm and vortex to capture the view. The platform walk was swaying and oscillating from the strong breeze. I was the only one there really early in the morning.....I cant imagine if it were more, the swaying will be impossible for the shot. This is the best spot over the whole platform walk. But others will have different opinion.

I was back at my parent's house in Kulim. The weekend was rather free and lack of events. I decided to drive 30km from town after dropping my daughter at school to the Ulu Sedim River. There in the thick midst of the Tropical Jungle were some awesome white water river and rapids....it is a site for the International River Slalom competition.

On site was the longest treetop canopy constructed over more than one kilometer in length. The walkway is elevated at the maximum of 30 metres above the forest. The gantry are laid out with a slight gradient to the peak and descending back over the river crossing.

It is weird seeing the tall trees moving out in circular motion from the strong breeze.

My next series will be featuring shots from the location.

The bridge is 250 m long and only a one-way bridge. There is a little station at its beginning with a guard in it who makes sure you don't turn around or misbehave. ;-)

Valley of the Giants. The giants are the Red TIngle Trees - a eucalypt which grows to a great height but has no taproot so the root system is quite shallow. When the trees are attacked by fire or disease the trunks hollow out at the base and the tree becomes unstable. The Tree Top Walk was built to allow visitors to view these magnificent trees from above, thus protecting the delicate roots.

There are no steps to climb, just a gentle slope, and the whole walk occupies just 4 square metres.

A couple more shots in comments and a few more are in comments with our other shot...

Hope this counts for a fence...HFF!

Henderson Waves

Distance: 0.3 km

Walking Time: 05 mins

At 36 metres above Henderson Road, Henderson Waves is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. It was built to connect the two hills of Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill.

The bridge has a unique wave-form made up of seven undulating curved steel “ribs” that alternately rise over and under its deck. The curved “ribs” form alcoves that function as shelters with seats within.

Slats of yellow balau wood, an all-weather timber found in South-East Asia, are used in the decking. Look out for carvings on the slats marking the height you are at on various points along the bridge.

The wave-forms will be lit with attractive LED light from 7pm to 7am daily, giving the bridge an illuminative glow.

O'REILLY'S - A view from the highest observation deck (30 meters) in a Strangler Fig. That's how birds experience life!

From an info board: "The white and greenish blotches that you often see on the bark of trees in the forest are lichens. A lichen is an (sic) unique association of an alga and / or cyanobacterium. This 'partnership' is beneficial to both the fungus and the aglae (sic). The dominant fungi partner benefits from the nutrients formed by the photosynthetic algae partner, which in turn enjoys protection from moisture loss among the fungal tissue."

Tree top walking way, at the end the visitors platform. Actually the walk way is between 8 to 25 m ( 25 to 78 ft) above ground. The visitors platform it self, shaped like an over dimensional egg, has a height of 44 m. In the center of the visitors platform there are three trees. Tried to make a picture from the bottom up, but after three or for steps decided, this is not worth the effort. Because already with the first step on the snow, my legs where in the snow, up to my private parts. Two or three days earlier, no problem, hard snow or snow shoes would have helped.

So I looked for another perspective, since the sky was bright and Gray in Gray due to the low hanging clouds. Finally I settled for this perspective, taken trough the birches, close to the Hans Eisenmann Visitors Center.

Vic had his tat redone and added some more to it and the next day we went for a walk at McRitchie - already 2 years ago! time flies... it was a hot and sweaty day...

The view from the platform floor.

This is the only spot I feel secure standing still.....on the column girder head and platform. The mid-span of the platform walk is swaying and giving. The view below are the forest base some 40 metres/100 feet down, definitely not for the "Vertigo" sufferers. I keep getting calls from my wife and parents during the whole outing - horrified because I have a heart condition...

At the Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay.

Cutting through the canopy some 18 meters (60 feet) high, Kew Gardens' new Tree Top Walkway gives nature-lovers a look at a part of the forest that's seldom seen — a view from the top.

Getting to the apex of the treetop, about 3/4 of the way and 750 metres length of walk traverse. After this it is the completely clear part of the path amongst the tallest tree canopy. The walkway then descents to the starting point, first crossing a big casm and white water rapid....the noise of the rushing water is deafening here.

The tiny nation of Sillybuggervielle has completed the diving platform for the summer Olympics to be held in 2024.

Unfortunately it was pointed out by the Olympic Committee that a Olympic size pool has also to be constructed.

The President of the nation has relieved Eddie the Eagle and the Snow Leopard of their planning duties.

This is a fictional figment of my imagination.
