my ultimate desire

Eastern Screech-Owl hidden up at least 20-25 feet in a broken tree limb; the pines as you can see made it difficult to get a clear capture. We were so thankful to a birdwatcher that called us over to have a peek. Very exciting.

Red-bellied Woodpeckers are fairly small woodpeckers, and are common in all of the eastern States. This one was investigating a storm-damaged palm tree in Orlando Wetlands, Florida.

"Macro Mondays"

"Tree Bark"

An abstract created from a photo of a tree bark

I was photographing the bark on this tree when I realised I was being watched.

Smile on Saturday's theme: Tree bark

This linden tree was first mentioned in books in 1643, so it is more than 400 years old. It can be found next to a church (Feldkirche) in Neuwied, Germany. The tree was used as a court place and is surrounded by stone benches and a table were the judge and the jury took a seat.

ALTERNATE ...

Just a little below the center is a FACE guarding the tree trunk! I didn't see her until later. Her left eye is covered but the right eye, nose and mouth are visible!

For Macro Monday - Tree Bark

A small section of the bark of a Mugga Ironbark Tree. Measuring 55mm across.

I am a long way behind today. I had an early physio appointment that was also a long one. Progress is good but it will be another 2-3 months before I get any where back to normal movement and strength.

Happy Macro Monday!

Some of the commonly-found birds had already begun, or completely migrated, but Yellow-rumped Warblers were still found in Breckenridge, Colorado by mid-September.

A fragment of last season's debarking of a Spotted Gum tree in my yard. This is an annual event when all the smooth bark markings, dimples and pimples are most prominent. The image's long dimension is 58mm.

The harsh weather takes it toll on the bar of a douglas fir tree.
