Again, the bird that wakes my 6 year old, grrr.
Canon EOS 20D, thrift store Sun 180-410mm f5.6 zoom, hand-held.
It's blooming right now. A mass of blooms on what must be a very old large tree on an old farmstead along Augusta Highway, Route 25 at Princeton, S.C. Couldn't get too close as gate is closed and no trespassing signs posted and may not be occupied? Initially I thought it was a horsechestmut, but have dismissed that and now my best guess is Catalpa. If so, I'd expect it to be Catalpa bignonioides - Southern Catalpa.
A birch tree has been blown over in the recent storms. This meant that this shot was possible...... it was 40 foot up the tree!
Пляж в паре сотен метров от нашего отеля, под крутую горку. Отель Лиападес-Бич видно слева вверху кадра. Сам пляж называется Гефира. Толком сфотографировать пляж так и забыл за всю неделю.
The beach in two hundred meters from our hotel, down a steep hill. The Liapades Beach Hotel is visible in the upper right. The beach itself is called Gefira. Somehow I never got around to take a good picture of it.
Taken with the Canon T70 and Canon 50mm 1.8 lens on expired,
bulk loaded Kodak Plus X and developed in D76.
I was struck by the different levels of light illuminating this single tree. The setting sun strikes the top most strongly and horizontally. Shadows settle in, downwards, branch by branch.
During my visit noticed a large tortoise or turtle at the edge of the pond ... I am not sure if he should be there [any thoughts?]
Early this morning I purchased a Voigtlander 40mm F1.2 lens and because it is a manual focus lens it is relatively inexpensive but difficult to use.
I went to my local supplier with the intention of getting the Zeiss Batis 40mm but they were out of stock so I decided to consider the Sony 16-35mm GM but as the price was Euro 2600 I decided to consider the Sony 16-35mm F4 which cost Euro 1300. I was about to purchase the F4 but as an afterthought I decided to have a look at the Voigtlander 40mm F1.2 and as I was impressed I decided to buy especially as it cost less then Euro 1000.
Based on using it for about three hours I can say that at F1.2 I found it almost impossible to get sharp focus and I also noticed a degree of chromatic aberration [colour fringing] which was easy to remove Lightroom. At F22 I noticed an amazing amount of dust on my sensor and there were two especially large bits of lint or fluff.

This photo is part of the series: Joshua Tree
I entered from the south into Joshua Tree National Park late afternoon on a cloudy day, I stopped at the information office and saw some beautiful postcards with orange sunsets. I pointed to them and asked the park ranger what he thought about today's sunset. He glanced at the sky and said, "No chance". Discouraged, I kept driving through the park. Two hours later, I captured this magical moment.
