I first saw these trees from a distance a couple of days beforehand. They looked so wonderful on the skyline that I wanted to go back and see them closer to. They make such lovely strong shapes.
Mild panic set in this morning at Cherry Tree near Blackburn as 6E32 did not move off Preston Docks at the allotted time.
Had the shot all lined up in superb conditions but a decision would have to be made ... abort this in favour of Clitheroe Cement Tanks at Newsholme??? Left it as long as I dared and it showed up finally as leaving 45L and actually made good time to here passing at 60 mph 29L. Happy Days.

This one was taken from next to my swag while I slept, waiting for the alarm to go off just before dawn, and was for about 3-4 hours.
The light on the left of the tree is from the waning crescent moon that rose around 2am.
Kowa Six with the standard 85mm f2.8 lens, hence the narrower angle of view. Fuji Neopan Acros homeprocessed in Rodinal 1+50 for 14 minutes.
Not sure about this one. I had to do something else than buildings for a while and this one is a "love or hate" kind of shot for me.
LOVE or HATE?
This great tree has been a bit of an obsession for me to try and do justice to. I have returned here many times now and come away with nothing I felt happy with.
I was passing by it after taking the image of my neighbour sitting on the bench in the loch and noticed the the light was good and there was a light covering of snow all adding to the soft light and mood.
I left him warming up in the van and grabbed a couple of shots.

Very stormy night and morning Sunday, but no more damage to the old tree. It was still windy on my latest visit to the Swedish Whitebeam and not surprisingly no one else around.
I took this shot in my final year in Canada. That day was the quintessential autum day. Cool, crisp air, clear blue sky, fiery colours. All a reminder that, "winter is coming!"
Picture taken at Frenchman’s Cove in Jamaica which is a private beach with very few people, it is very beautiful and gave a relaxing break on a day trip which we enjoyed very much.

The Colorado State Forest Service Outreach Division and Fort Collins District have been assisting with the A Gift of a Green Christmas charity for 6 years by harvesting and donating trees from the Mountain Campus (formerly Pingree Park) area. 200 lodgepole trees were cut by sawyers and brought down to a staging area in Fort Collins where they will be delivered this coming Saturday to families in Larimer County.

Nothing wildly creative or cool -- simply an expression of my love for the cyclic forces of nature. This is just a stand of trees in our Maine backyard after an ice storm. Natural, normal, frozen in time -- and for me...breathtaking. OH -- and very cold!!!
This view like TV noise when nothing is shown, but different from this one, there is a greate pleasure to wach it :)

We have had some really strong gusts and high winds of late. This branch has been turned into logs for the fire by now but, it was still a shame to see it laying there in the fog. No damage to the house and that is the thing I was most worried about.

This.. well this is a tree. But I saw exactly this picture in my mind as I was staying there! I am amazed how less it takes to take an (in my opinion) interesting picture.

Bled away their beauty as they

Frost.
Leaves lost.
Stocky frames –
Thinning at the dendrites –
Animate their colour under dusk:
A paling brown,
Emerging grey –
Deeper, darker –
Leads to black:
Silhouettes braced for winter,
Like monuments of hardiness
Against the freeze.
But the trees fought back; upheld their dignity –
No fuss, pomp, or thrill.
