Naked mole-rats have no fat under their skin and no hair on it, which means their skin is fairly translucent.

Originária da China, onde é considerada a fruta nacional, a lichieira e uma árvore subtropical, semelhante à mangueira, com até 12 metros de altura e de grande longevidade. Há poucos séculos foi disseminada para outros países como Índia, Tailândia, Taiwan, África do Sul, Madagáscar, Israel, Estados Unidos (Havaí e Flórida), Vietnã e Brasil.
Devido ao seu belo porte, atraente formato, folhas verde escuro e permanentes e principalmente devido a beleza da frutificação a lichieira é a árvore favorita para os jardins de residência no Havaí, e em cidades da Califórnia.
Os frutos produzem em cachos, a casca é rugosa e de cor vermelha, sendo fácil de ser destacada. A polpa é gelatinosa, translúcida sucosa e de excelente sabor, lembrando ao de uva-itália e não é aderente ao caroço. Serve para consumo ao natural, e para o fabrico de sucos, compotas e ainda para a passa.
A planta é longeva e rústica, necessitando pouco ou nenhum tratamento fitossanitário. As doenças não são problema e, com relação às pragas, eventualmente podem ocorrer brocas de tronco, a mariposa oriental nos ponteiros e ácaros, abelhas-arapuá ou irapua nos frutos. Praticamente não é usado agrotóxico e os frutos são colhidos isentos de produtos químicos

Originally from China, which is considered the national fruit, the lychee and a subtropical tree, similar to the hose, with up to 12 meters high and high longevity. Consumption is for the natural, and for the manufacture of juices, jams and even to pass.
The plant is longevity and rustic, requiring little or no treatment plant. The diseases are no problem and, with respect to pests, could possibly occur from stem borers, the moth in eastern pointers and mites, bees irapua-arapuá or the fruit. Virtually no pesticide is used and the fruit is harvested free of chemicals

Found these almost translucent mushrooms on the banks of a little river i walked this morning. They were actually hard to photograph as they were so white.
Hydra magnified using Leica stereoscope and shot on Nikon S52.
It's a magical feeling to look at them float around in water.
View it large on black background to feel some of that magic...
I like how you can see the stigma (I think) through the petals.

Its been a while since my last self portrait so decided to be bold and brave with this one.
Landscapes are what i really like and havent ever been that into portraits but i have always fancied doing shots for bands mainly rock or metal bands and some of my favourtie images are from the old school punk/metal bands like "Madball" or "Agnostic Front" the slightly cheesey staged front covers with the members are the best!
That in mind id always wanted to use my garage to shoot and ran out whilst the dinner was cooking, so this was a bit rushed,..
I took one shot under exposed by -3 for the background which i further edited within Gimp 2.6
My second shot was taken with a flash exposure compensation of -2. I edited this in gimp as well and layered them together making my opacity just under half.
Id thought about adding text possibley "TRANSLUCENT" above my head but couldnt get it to look very good. not sure you can do anythign fancy in gimp with it, again any ideas or tips would be welcome.
a little tortoiseshell i found, he looked so pretty when the sun shone through his wings!
