Apologies to anyone who isn't fond of bugs..
The trap is shaped like a little red apple - approx. 2.25" diameter - and seems fairly effective. I used the supplied liquid in one but followed a hunch based on the smell (later backed up by a little online searching) and put apple cider vinegar - with a few drops of dish detergent to break the surface tension - in the other. My homemade liquid seems to work just about as well as the commercial one, so I'll just keep using the containers. We have a whole bottle of apple cider vinegar... :)
The liquid that came with the kits says it's enough for 90 days - the instructions say to use half the bottle in each apple, and that's supposed to last for 45 days. BUT...it's evaporating very quickly. I've nearly used up the bottle keeping ONE trap supplied for a week.

Nikon F90X, Ilford Pan 400, developed in Rodinal 1:25 @ 22° for 4m50s, agitated every minute. Scanned on Epson V600.

When this weeks theme was proposed I set out with the intention of taking an image of backlit leaves. Though when walking through the woods during the last hour of sunlight it struck me that the forest itself is translucent. It allows some light to pass through down to the forest floor but not all light. Some is obscured by dense canopy above. So here is an image of a translucent fern lit by the sun through a translucent forest.
I don't know what flower this is, but the interior of it is incredible.The closer I look at flowers, the more I realize that they look like creatures from a coral reef...

Post-larval convict tang spend just a few days in this translucent phase after finding a home, assuming normal coloration soon after.
