110319-F-WU507-033: Business and commerce thrive in Herat City as local citizens go about their daily routines, March 19, 2011. The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai named Herat City as a city to transition to Afghans defending national sovereignty and tranquillity during a speech in Kabul, March 22. In Herat, Afghan National Security Forces are prepared to take the lead locally. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Kevin Wallace/RELEASED)
I am way behind in posting here is the long delayed shot of fhe venus transition. I took a couple of shot at around 6-6:30PM when the transition is supposed to have started. It was too bright and I could not make out if it really captured the shadow. I gave up and later went back to take sunset shots. Thats when I saw people viewing the I immediately got the 300mm from my car and took two shots just before the sun disappeared behind the clouds. Very lucky to see the clear dot there.

In front of the local McDonald's, ignored by all the fast-food junks, these beautiful flowers were waving in the evening sun.
These leaves hadn't quite made the switch to all yellow yet, but I thought they were so beautiful in transition.
Press "L" and enjoy.
Photage 68: I am anxiously awaiting for Jasper's arrival! Our new puppy will be here within the hour. This is an exciting transition for us as we embark on a new puppy adventure! It reminds me that times of transition call for an extra dose of compassion. It's so easy to expect yourself to "get it right" and "it's no big deal". The truth is transitions can be challenging...especially when you are transitioning into new territory. So I encourage you to be more mindful about your own transitions and to give yourself lots of compassionate room to learn and grow.
Just South of the village of Jordan Station, Ontario, 'The Twenty' cascades down the Niagara Escarpment on it's way North to Lake Ontario. In this image, the largest drop at Balls Falls is actually upstream and a couple of hundred meters to the left of the frame, hidden by the steep, wooded banks along the left as we see it her. The water has had a chance to return to a placid look as it comes around the bend and flows toward this spot and then once again makes a transition to a fast-moving, rapids just out of view to the right of the frame. Shown here in spring and late afternoon, it looks inviting but once spring run-offs start, this is a dangerous place and bears little resemblance to this scene. - JW
Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D5000 fitted with a Nikkor 18-105mm VR lense set to 28mm, ISO200, Aperture priority mode, f/9.0, 1/80 sec. PP in GIMP: slight tone curve adjustment to add a bit of crispness and brighten up the white areas I the water, slight saturation boost overall as well as some additional boost to the greens, sharpen, add bars and text, scale to 1024 wide for posting.

My local Radio Shack being transitioned into a Radio Shack-Sprint hybrid store. Sprint will occupy one side, window decal covering where the counter was is being removed to provide more natural light. Radio Shack had their check out counter here, relocated to the back center of the store.
Victoria, BC opened a new 24/7 transitional housing facility on Tuesday, Feb. 23 to house 50 homeless campers from tent city.
The new tenants at Choices Transitional Home will have the option of staying in new tents erected on the grounds or inside the former prison, which opened in 2002 but was closed by the provincial government as a cost-cutting measure in 2015.
The agency running this new shelter required extra manpower to speedily ready the facility - they attracted few volunteers. The vocal NIMBY crowd who fought in hundreds to block the proposed city managed tent city, the vocal anti-tent city internet warriors, the Central Middle School PAC, and the Christ Church Cathedral School Board failed to volunteer their services.
The former jail offers many of the basics required to exist but is NOT housing.
The recent and temporary and limited options from the Provincial Government are not enough to meet the needs of all members of the street and homeless community.
Those with bad experiences with institutions and/or confinement will likely find the former jail to be an issue. On the surface the location may appear near idyllic but it's not convenient for many services this community must access - it definitely isolated, and forever blanketed with the drone of the fast moving traffic on the bordering highway. The fire pit intended to replace the sacred fire at the Super InTent City will likely be gas fuelled, which I suspect may not meet the needs of our indigenous community.
There is a housing and poverty crisis in BC, in Canada, and shelters, transitional housing, and food banks are no solution.
Disability, old-age, unemployment, and welfare benefit/pension rates must be increased - and housing with dignity must be available for all.
“Through selfishness, greed, indifference, and cruelty, we have forced millions of men, women, and children to struggle through lives of misery, despair, and suffering.” “There is no excuse for the high levels of poverty in Canada. None. None whatsoever.”
"Despite all the fatuous rhetoric and all the pious pronouncements, despite all the House of Commons committees and Senate reports, despite all the warnings from anti-poverty organizations and from the growing number of food banks across the country, despite the inquiries and commissions and all the published studies, the situation is even worse than it was thirty years ago and much worse today than it was twenty years ago.”

This was the last month of extensions, the last transition before I made the big leap into being completely natural.
A visit to Morwell and the La Trobe Valley with the Greens Ellen Sandell MP and Adam Bandt MP to discuss Hazelwood, Australia’s dirtiest power station and it's impact on the health of our community and environment, not least in the Latrobe Valley.
We were briefed by TomDoig on the history of coal in the Valley, and the minefire and community concerns by Voices of the Valley. We discussed some of the politics, health impacts and possibilities for transitioning to a clean economy with sustainable jobs, involving the local community in transition planning.

I don't usually enter abandoned private places but the door to the barn was wide open - and it wasn't just any barn... Time seems to have transformed this jacket to a piece of art; a sort of installation on transition while staying put.
