A fallen autumn leaf lying on the forest floor, one amongst many, in transition, slowly decaying and disintegrating, is it an ending or a beginning? Giving life to the tree through spring and summer, then slowly dissolving into the ground beneath to be absorbed by the soil to feed the tree from below and then all to begin again.

The Transition Report 2016-17 casts a spotlight on inequality and inclusion, explaining how a failure to deliver a fair distribution of the fruits of progress may lead to setbacks in political and economic development. It also explores the causes of inequality of opportunity and looks at how to strengthen financial inclusion.

Tracking the successes that have been achieved in post-communist societies, the report concludes that the “happiness gap” has finally closed with people on similar incomes in non-transition countries, but warns that not everyone has shared in this economic prosperity.

I am sure we all now and then have bad days, and we don't know what has caused it. I wanted this image to show a transition of passing from one state to another. From the moment where you see no other way, to recognise the strength and will within you, to hold on.

The Bicycle Escape is excited to announce that we now sell Transition Bikes. Pictured is the burly Transam 29. A lot of the new Transition bikes are not yet available but expect TBE to beef up our stock very soon. The Transam has slick Black Cat style dropouts that can be set up to accommodate 135mm, 142mm or single speed builds.

thank you!

it has been an amazing and very inspiring year for me here, having met so many creative and fantastic (i)pho(ne)tographers to share images and thoughts with.

i started to be active in the flickr community one year ago, when i began taking pictures with my iphone and working on them using apps - on that tiny screen (ha!) - and looking at & commenting on other's works. this has been and is an exciting journey. right now i need a little break from the visual things, and i pause a little on flickr. i wish you all a great holiday season and am looking forward to catching up with all your work in brand new 2012!

This is, very obviously, a repost of the shot from yesterday, but after I plugged it into Photoshop and messed around with the curves, the paper disappeared and I felt this was a much better shot...

I actually liked this one better than the one on the wood because the colors seemed much brighter and the transition from green to red seemed much smoother, but I wasn't too thrilled with the paper background... This one is exactly what I was looking for, nothing else to focus on but the leaves...

The "Transition" marked the official hand over from Liverpool's year of European Capital of Culture 2008 to the joint winners of 2009 - Linz in Austria and Vilinus in Lithuania - on Saturday 10th January 2009.

The event culminated with a pyrotechnics display from a couple of ships on the River Mersey.

Our lives are classified so amazingly well into various phases: the kido phase, the school phase, the college phase, the job phase, the married phase, the family phase, the retirement phase so on and so forth. But have you ever wondered what if you messed up the phases, what if you are stuck somewhere in between the phases, what if you have lost the sense of direction, what if you have forgotten the path headed to your goal, what if you start questioning your destiny, what if…….

This is somewhat my situation in life right now. There are hurdles to be cleared, there are decisions to be made, there are goals to be achieved, there are desires to be fulfilled, there are relations to be kept, there are shattered dreams to be mended, there is so much to do and the clock just seems to be ticking faster with every passing second changing the phase with the blink of an eye.

The transitional phase is the worst to overcome and the toughest to survive. Hopefully my current phase fades away soon and I will be back with a bang.

PS: Sorry for the extra long rant. It may not even make any sense to some of you but then that’s how life is.

PPS: I know no excuse can justify such a long absence on flickr, even I miss viewing and commenting on all your beautiful photos but I guess as they say this too shall pass.

PPPS: The only good thing about my life right now is my new born niece, she is such a CUTIE. Will post her photos soon.

PPPPS: For some reasons I feel this photo speaks for me and my current state so there you go.

PPPPPS: And yeah sorry about the obsession with PS ;) :D

While there are many pathways in gender transition, access to reassignment surgery of often guarded by gatekeepers (see card 02) and some of these require the person to “live as the opposite gender” for a period of time before they are allowed to have surgery. Even if that is the case (and not everyone wants, needs, or has surgery) other considerations (money, stability, et cetera) often mean that such a person will have to wait anyway before they can obtain such.

This shows myself in my house, and part of card 16 behind the curtain.

I can never decide if these berries mean the end of autumn or the coming of winter. Perhaps it's both.
