"Energy transition": On the left behind the hill the steam from the cooling tower and the chimney of the Neckarwestheim nuclear power plant and on the right on the hill a wind turbine for generating electricity.

"Energiewende": Links hinter dem Hügel der Dampf aus dem Kühlturm und der Schornstein des Atomkraftwerks Neckarwestheim und rechts auf dem Hügel ein Windrad zur Stromerzeugung.

From the Golden Hour to the Blue Hour.

Since yesterday I had to take all the models I had made this semester to the university. This one was one of my favourites because it shows the continuous transition from a triangle to a square in such a simple way.

The rain has past, the sun is out, and this is the end.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments, on this series and all the rest too.

Had a moment out today . . .

The first snow fall of the Autumn, a sure sign that winter is not so far away. Nice to see the mixture of autumn colours and snowfall, with the late afternoon sunshine over the Benachie hills.

This 3d street painting in called: Virtual Transition. Especially made for the RAW EXPO in Rotterdam. The 3d street art piece measures about 45 square meters. The sculptures and installations are curated by Piet de Jonge, Ruth Horstmanshoff en Teodora Kotseva.

Whitehaven in transition, 7 February 1996. The cranes on at the Queen’s Dock are a reminder of Whitehaven’s former importance as an industrial port, although the massive silos and its conveyor system that these cranes once charged are gone. The Beacon stands on the left of the picture as an indicator of Whitehaven’s transition into a tourist harbour.

Between the Beacon and the cables of the first crane, the snow helps to outline the cutting of the original Howgill brake of 1813 (a rope worked incline to lower coal wagons down to the port), which was replaced in 1924 by yet another rope worked incline west of (to the right of) the Candlestick chimney. This second incline closed in 1976 and was replaced yet again but this time by conveyor system. This conveyor transferred coal from Haig Pit down into railway wagons on West Strand, though that had also disappeared by this time.

Out of the Archives: This concrete form was built to handle an awkward transition in the first City Water Tunnel. Soon it would be sawed up in pieces to fit down a shaft and reassembled across the river in Manhattan (yes, that’s Fort Greene Park in the background). June 26, 1914. (Image ID: p015882)

As day yields to night and fall stretches towards winter we are indeed in transition. Seattle's skyline from Bell Harbor. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone and much thanks for your inspiration.

Packed moving truck. Disposing of furniture to family prior to moving into an RV.

Within a couple weeks the wood skeleton was covered and ready to be sawed up in pieces to fit down a shaft and reassembled across the river in Manhattan (yes, that’s Fort Greene Park in the background). not always as smooth as I had hoped. This was the "first eye" and I have thought about fixing the somewhat jerky transitions. But when you stp back, it is insignificant.

I started this piece in August 09, before I moved to New York, I finished it couple days ago.

The calendar says mid November, but the seasons are in a transition zone between winter and autumn. A few trees still bear their autumn colors at Brady Lake, Ohio, as a westbound NS stack train rolls through a snow quall.

Period of transition.

Spring is typically thought of as the season of renewal, but, for me, it’s fall. I typically move locations or change jobs in October.

October is a month of change anniversaries. I started the USMC Officer Candidate Course in October. I moved to Okinawa in October. I moved into my first home in October. I started this blog in October. I moved to Sacramento in October. I returned from my Sierra Summer in October. This October also promises big changes to be celebrated in future Octobers. Stay tuned . . .

All of us have to make that transition.

Amtrak's Pere Marquette is transitioning from the CSX Grand Rapids Subdivision to the Chicago Line of Norfolk Southern. Judging by the condition of the track this is a no man's land that neither railroad appears to want to do much more than minimal maintenance on this stretch of track in Porter, Indiana.

Change can happen fairly quickly and often with unexpected results.

These trees are alongside the Lillooet River near where the bridge to Meager hot springs used to be.

When the landslide tore down Capricorn Creek and flew out along Meager Creek and into the Pemberton Valley, it plowed through everything in its path. Destroying roads and bridges. Flattened the forest. It also created a huge delta and now water flows in much different areas than it used to...
