Goofing off with a little training session in prep for an upcoming fight.

Lothian had already embarked on recruitment drives but the 'disappearance' of McGill's from the former SMT West Lothian routes has somewhat increased training efforts. The standard 'T' fleet has been augmented by buses from the service and spare fleet and one that stands out is fleet 195, a Volvo B7 with a smart livery which was used up till recently by Lothian in the guise of East Coast buses. This and its counterparts had commenced work at North Berwick shortly after Lothian stepped in to provide cover for Firstbus abandonment of bus services there. In its training role 195 is appearing throughout the network giving trainees experience of a variety of traffic situations together with route knowledge.
It pauses at Clermiston terminus west of the city. I'm not certain when this terminus was laid out, most probably around 1958 just after the housing scheme was built here much of the streets named from R L Stevenson's book 'Kidnapped' e.g. Ransome Gardens, Hoseasons Gardens, Durar Drive etc. For some years the terminus was in use by services 26 and 28 buses, and for many years by service 1. The area in the shadow of Corstorphine Hill where in Stevenson's book Allan Breck and David Balfour finally parted. Allan to France and David to the local bank which could be hard to find these days with many areas now devoid of them.

A USAID-supported training session for teachers in Mbandaka, northern DRC. In FY 2017, USAID trained over 15,000 teachers in Grades 1-4 to promote evidence-based early grade reading instruction.
The focus of training included the use of reading instruction materials developed for Grades 1 and 2 in three national languages and oral French, and for both formal and non-formal schools. Teachers in Grades 3 and 4 were trained to use supplemental instructional resources to improve reading instruction in their classrooms. Photo credit Julie Polumbo

The Virginia Beach Fire Department’s HAZMAT team is frequently called upon to respond to the release or discovery of a foreign substance or gas leak that represents a potential hazard to the public or other first responders. Unfortunately, in today’s world an accidental or malicious release of a hazardous material is a growing threat. The VBFD has one the most skilled and best equipped HAZMAT Teams in Virginia but recognizes the need to constantly increase their capabilities.
The HAZMAT Team has been conducting training to prepare their fellow firefighters to deal with a variety of HAZMAT scenarios. In effect, VBFD is creating a force-multiplier that enables those outside the HAZMAT Team to gain a level of expertise and efficiency that would allow a firefighter to deal safely with a HAZMAT situation until members of the HAZMAT Team arrive.
The exercise consisted of three different scenarios involving everything from a leaking chemical tanker to the discovery of a suspicious white powder.

What if we need to land our Soyuz space ship in the middle of the ocean? For that case, we train egressing the capsule in special survival suits.
The fun part of that is to exchange the space suit for several layers of thermal underwear and a dry suit - while you are in a tiny space capsule swimming on the water with the hatch closed and three people inside...

How many times I have walked the same path and I feel like I'm missing something.
I've said many times, when I have this, I will do that and ended not complete.
The days pass, the years lost ideas and projects aside.
I need no more excuses and light is what I need to compile and nest my dreams.
I hope to be in time to walk the path of truth.

When my youngest was due we prepared the nursery with paintings that were bright and bold to help a baby's developing eyesight and interesting so that he would learn as he grew.
Every member of the family got involved - we all painted something, from Grandparents to Aunts, to siblings :-)
