This pied avocet seems to teach its little chick how to find food in the water. It looked so adorable how the small little fluff ball so seriously tried to act like mom (or dad?).

Heidi thinks it’s important to train your humans. Once you know how it‘s done it‘s fairly easy she says. You just need to let them know who‘s the boss and find out how to push their buttons. So if you think your human is lazy and the floors need cleaning, just pee on all your paws while in the litter box and then go tour the whole place. You’ll be surprised how fast your servants jump from their couch and start a thorough house cleaning.

I popped down Loch Eilt to a location where I could look across at the Fort William to Mallaig line. Quickly I saw I hadn't got the right day. I need the waters to be flat calm to get a nice reflection. And some nice light on the hills would help. The train, the Jacobite, was only slightly late but when it came, horror of horrors it was an old diesel relic pulling the train, and not a famous Black Five.........todays' train, no steam or smolke, definitely couldn't be called the Hogwart's Express. I tried imagining how many passengers would be disappointed the steam engine had been replaced with a diesel: it's just not the same.
So I had decided on a two frame stitched pano shot but that went wrong too! I seem to have cut off the end of the train in 'merging' the images. So with a steam train, streaming smoke and steam against the mountains, reflected on still waters it might have looked something, but...not today! At least I don't have to travel far for another try, but I can't predict what the conditions are like on the other side of the mountains from home!
Training because I am constantly learning to take pictures, but this time I went further and did two poses to make this photo with the collaboration of my friend Mary.
The photo was inspired by one that my dear daughter Coco (+) took some years ago.

This is one of the images I made for my latest video which I linked below. I've been learning video editing for the last year or so and I am experimenting more and more with the video editing and also the screenshots that I get from them... great fun. This is a cover of Melanie Martinez "Training Wheels" by Grace VanderWaal. No fancy production work here just a young teenager with a ukulele & a smartphone streaming live on Tik Tok. Just like you did when you were growing up!

This continues my series of older photos of ranching in the Bear Lake Valley, Idaho.
The Hunzeker ranch in Montpelier, Idaho raises horses, cattle, and sheep. The horses are rounded up every year or so and go through a selection process to determine if they are to be kept for breeding, sold, or trained for riders. A lot of them are trained for use by sheepherders. The owners of this ranch like to hire Peruvian sheepherders and ranch hands and I am pretty sure the rider in this photo was one of them. One of my recent photos shows the horses milling around the corral, and in this photo a rider is evaluating and separating them for the next step. These horses were very wild and it was an exciting scene.
I am getting Stable Diffusion to generate images that make the resulting Lora more flexible, for example by creating a 17th century pastoral farming scene for the background. I also want to make the clothing look more well used, patched and stained. This guy may have only had one jacket, repaired and worn for years. Finally I want to teach Stable Diffusion my style.

The training centre was relocated to South Australia, but a new commercial venture has opened in its place: Commercial Dive Academy.

The fishing trawler Concorde RDX, in bright red livery, is an attractive sight. Along the wharf the tugboat "Risdon Cove" is parked and waiting to be called into service.
Leaf, snow rocks. Created 4 layers, each layer was a different color. Flipped the 4 layers around so each layer was in a different position. Combined the four together and this is the result. Very easy to do. Try it on shots that don't turn out 100%. You'll be pleased with the results.

You can tell he is very young by the white 'aiming' tip still visible on his bill.
It looked like one of the adults was still keeping an eye on him and trying to show him the ropes with hovering and fishing displays as they flew round the lake together.
A fresh round of snow brought more awareness of possible avalanches in the area, so a few new members of the team received some essential training.
