An attempt to show model trains from the real world perspective. The biggest problem to film it with my FinePix F31fd was the depth of field. This is the Lounge Car of a French TGV train zipping through southern France.
I think of this photo every time I ponder California's Prop 1A, which would bring high-speed rail to the Golden State if the proposition is approved by voters on November 4.
If this isn't an attractive argument for high-speed rail, I don't know what is. Need more logic? Read my endorsement of Prop 1A on the Telstar Logistics blog.
InterCity train 691 rolls at speed through the reverse curves just south of the station at Hallein, Austria. IC 691 is pulled by an ÖBB 1144-class MU electric locomotive. IC 691 originates in Klagenfurt and is passing through Hallein without stopping. This intercity train is a mere 18 km (11 miles) away from its final destination of Salzburg.
A total of 215 members of the 1044 class locomotives were produced between 1976 and 1995. A rebuild program starting in the late Nineties and wrapping up in 2010 resulted in the establishment of the 1144 class for the rebuilt locomotives.

One of the "benefits" of traveling on the Rocky Mountaineer is that you get lots of chances to have first-hand views of railyard operations. Since freight trains have priority over passenger trains, we spent several hours of our trip waiting for freight trains to pass, as we were doing here in a yard across the river outside of Kamloops on the start of our second day.
The Balfour Beatty “drain train” and its crew in action, clearing drainage systems in an engineering possession at Shap on 25 May 2024. The set was “top & tailed” by 20901 and 20905, a small segment of each locomotive’s nose can be seen in the picture.

Sorry for the horrible pic, I tried to take attention away from the fact that the 1x1 round plates I used for lights turned out horribly wrong in the pic by putting some lights on them. =P Unfortunatly I don't have photoshop so it's just Lens Flare in GIMP. It's not my fault tho, I can't find another light so most of it was from one light source (the other is pretty weak). WIll try to make it better next time!
Anyway, it's motorised with a RC motor and can be remote controlled. The raised 2x2 tile on the back turns it on and off.

Sedím doma na terase keď v stanici Rajec počujem legendárne bublanie motora k6s310dr. Týmto znakom mi bolo okamžite jasné,že v Rajci nie je prázdno ale nachádza sa tam poobedný manipulák. Tesne pred pol 6 poobede beriem foťák,sadám na bicykel a veziem sa k neďalekému poľu kde kvitne repka. Zachádzam hlbšie do poľa s jasným plánom odfotit manipulák panningom. Za rohom počujem mocné trúbenie čmeliaka keď ako naschvál priletí fotomrak a zakryje slnko. Sledujem čo sa deje na oblohe kým sa zatial manipulák približuje. Súprava už je skoro pri mne ked zrazu meter po metri sa začína objavovať slnko a nasvecovať manipulák .Bol to doslova závod so slnkom kedže mrak sa pohyboval preč takmer rovnakou rychlostou ako manipulák. Na snímke je zachytený manipulák 86543 na čele s čmeliakom 771 020-5 za obcou Kľače

66148, working the Aberthaw Power Station to Lindsey oil refinery empty oil tanks 620Q service, seen passing through Barry Station in the late afternoon. It makes a change to see an oil train (as opposed to coal) from Aberthaw. The power station uses a small quantity of fuel oil for the start up and stabilisation of the boiler combustion process.
The branch line to Barry Island can be seen on the left by the coloured light, which replaced a magnificent three arm gantry semaphore that was damaged in 2004.

Yesterday Sunday on Jan 03,2010. I went to Golra Railway station (Railway station in Islamabad,Pakistan) and found some historical things just like this train. This train belongs to 18th century when British were here. Train system were named East West Railway. Engine is still in very good shape, neat and clean.
On a beautiful afternoon in Oct of 1974 at Bensenville, Ill west of Chicago I found this SW1200 at the Milwaukke Road shop.
