The Brick Lane mosque has acquired this tall steel structure, said to be inspired by the minaret of a traditional mosque.

 

the Jammie Masjid started life as a Hugenot (French Protestant) chapel. It later became a Jewish Synagogue and is now an Islamic mosque, reflecting the waves of immigration to the area. It is also believed to be the only building outside the Middle East that has served as a place of worship for all three of the major monotheistic religions

Joseph Truman started brewing in Brick Lane in 1683. The brewery grew over the years and had buildings on both sides of Brick Lane. Expansion continued into the 20th Century, but brewing ceased in the 1980s and the buildings have now been put to a variety of uses including a conference centre, restaurants and bars.

The Woolworths in Bethnal Green Road is soon to become an Iceland. Various statutory notices have been placed in the window for interested parties to read.

Sunday 7th June 2015 - "Sky Pavilion", Museum Gardens, Bethnal Green.

 

The Triumph Pavilion is an annual competition for architecture and design teams to design an interactive piece of work around a theme, which this year was Sky. The winning design is constructed and displayed in Museum Gardens, Bethnal Green, during June and this year's design represents the North Star accompanied by other stars, on a sundial base.

Tributes to those who died in the Bethnal Green Tube Shelter disaster of 3rd March 1943, and to those who rescued the survivors and retrieved the bodies.

Narrowboats Louise and Mercutio in tandem on the Hertford Union Canal, Bow, London E3. The locks on this canal and the Regent's Canal are wide locks (14 feet) so can accommodate two narrowboats side by side.

During the London Olympic Games large screens were put up in several locations around London. The Victoria Park London Live site ran from Friday 27th July until Sunday 12th August, and also incorporated a stage, bars, food stalls and entertainment, as well as three screens showing BBC coverage of the Games. Entry was free.
