It was nice to have Matt and Sophie involved in Tootdood's trip down south. Here they are with HMS Queen Elizabeth behind them and part of the Mary Rose museum to the right.
Tooting - South London.
You don't have to travel far to find something amazing. Tooting is but 10 minutes from my house yet I find it one of the most diverse places in London. It's about 140 miles west of my hometown Bridgend but at times it feels like I've time travelled back there.

Happened to press the shutter button as 3802 signalled its departure from Carrog to head off to Corwen. Once there it reverses back to Carrog with a staff member peering out of the rearmost carriage to ensure any problems can be radio'd to the footplate. Back at Carrog the locomotive runs around the carriages. It won't be too long before Corwen is fully operational and becomes the runaround station.

Between Western Springs and Hinsdale on BNSF's Chicago Sub "Racetrack", a MOW crew gives Amtrak 5, the westbound 'California Zephyr' the customary wave, returned in kind with a short toot on the horn. Preliminary work is ongoing here to replace BNSF's bridge over the Tri-State Tollway, I-294. Location of the bridge is visible by the green railing to the right.
Renowned for the vast diversity of restaurants, Tooting also offers a rich variety of the most amazing sari shops; A sari, saree, or shari is a female garment from the Indian subcontinent that consists of a drape varying from five to nine yards (4.5 metres to 8 metres) in length and two to four feet (60 cm to 1.20 m) in breadth that is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder, baring the midriff. There are various styles of sari draping, the most common being the Nivi style, which originated in Andhra Pradesh, India.
Some sarees for everyday wear are simply printed while others are very heavy with gold and silver embroidery and are for special occasions like parties or weddings. The prices range from a few pounds to hundreds of pounds.Sarees come in many
colours and many varieties of designs and materials. Some materials are synthetic like American georgette, woolly goergette etc and are imported from Japan.Printed silk and heavy silk sarees are imported from India and Banaras. The other heavy embroided sarees are imported from France,Italy and Swittzerland.
The sari has gained its popularity internationally because of the growth of Indian fashion trends globally. Many Bollywood celebrities, like Aishwarya Rai have worn it at international events representing the Indian culture. In 2010, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone wanted to represent her country at an international event, wearing the national costume. On her very first red carpet appearance at the Cannes International Film Festival, she stepped out on the red carpet in a Rohit Bal sari.
