Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (MI)

Here's another one from my recent trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I think this was my favorite part of the entire trip. This beach was at the end of a relatively short backpacking trail. In backpacking, every ounce counts, which is why my wife and I brought a couple of beers with us. We watched the sun set as it lit up the waves of Lake Superior lapping at the shore while we cracked a couple of cold ones. An evening to remember for sure. Then we went off and slept in our secluded campsite to rest up for the next day's adventures.

tomorrow,

...and always.....

Chicane

Come Tomorrow

If I talked to god he’d tell me why

There’s something going on

Dark people walking by

This morning is the day after the next

Escape my only dream

Cos I’m the only one again

But life is better spent inside your world

Butterfly that sings

Causes me to fall once more

Tomorrow you are only half a friend

Machines control your mind

And neon strips above my head

Come tomorrow, come tomorrow

There’s never been an answer

There’s always someone else to follow

And you are coming down, and you are coming down

Giving me the reasons for your lies

And when you turn me inside out

Don’t know what you feel or dream about

And then you take me upside down

Remember my face, my name, my town

When i think of god he knows my mind

I’m wondering what’s wrong

What will the devil find

Tomorrow you will find there’s no way out

With nowhere left to turn

There’s no place left to hide from him

In a city made of sand

We found our way out

But without a helping hand

We’re free

Turn me inside out

Don’t know what you dream about

Take me upside down

Take me, take me

And you turn me inside out

Don’t know what you dream about

Tomorrow we'll tell the story of Olegas Truchanas (1923-1972) and how he became one of Australia's most influential wilderness photographers and environmentalists.

Truchanas arrived in Tasmania as a refugee from Lithuania in 1948. A skilled bushman and canoeist he took to exploring the Tasmanian wilderness. But in the early 1950s he took up photography as a way of recording the beauty he saw around him.

This beautiful Rolleiflex Twin Lens Reflex camera enabled him to take medium format 6x6 negatives. You'll see on the wall behind his tent in the This Vanishing World: Photography of Olegas Truchanas exhibition the large square format black and whites. These were taken with this camera. But as lovely as the Rolleiflex was to use, it really couldn't handle the rough wilderness conditions and he needed to find a more practical camera.

A SPECIAL NOTE:

A last posting from a longtime follower of mine. I just learned that Pierre is signing off from Flickr today for the final time! On Tuesday he departs this world. www.flickr.com/photos/59584735@N00/54189306247/in/photost...

You have just a few hours to leave a final goodbye message. I will be praying for you my dear friend [https://www.flickr.com/photos/59584735@N00] as you make your journey beyond the limitations of time and space.

I will treasure this last fave from you...

Hey guys!

On this picture you can see my best friend Cordelia, who I usually often take pictures of :)

But the last weeks and months have been so very busy to me (and to her) that there was almost no time for it.

So here are some news:

I´m almost done with grade 12 (tomorrow is the last schoolday), I´m working and partying a lot, one of my pictures was on the subways of Berlin to see (VERY PROUD!), I gave my first interview to "sincerely sarah." (already very excited about the result) and one of my pics is taking part in a movie!!

Can you believe that?

Damn, I can´t! :) wow, right now everything is running so perfectly that it kinda scares me... :)

Have a great day! :)

I was going to use this post to share some of my thoughts on backup strategies as I have had a couple of flickr friends over the years that have lost many of their images and did not have sufficient backup to restore from. I hoped that it might help someone in the future from loosing some of their work.

Well I was up to 500 words and that is not going to work here - I will try to figure out a better way to post that - for now here is the short version.

1. Your backup must be automatic (we are lazy) - software can do this for you

2. Backup to more than one physical location (think fire / flood / theft) - see Mozy/CrashPlan or others for online off-site backup

3. Redundancy is good (hard drives are mechanical and will fail) - mirror your drives or get a multi drive Network Attached Storeage (NAS) device

4. Put your data (images) on a separate drive from you operating system and programs (could be logical or physical drive) - backup is easier and avoids issues with corrupted OS or OS reinstall

I've been down and

I'm wondering why

These little black clouds

Keep walking around

With me

With me

It wastes time

And I'd rather be high

Think I'll walk me outside

And buy a rainbow smile

But be free

They're all free

So maybe tomorrow

I'll find my way home

So maybe tomorrow

I'll find my way home...

A view of National Congress building and surrounding area from the roof of Palacio Barolo - Buenos Aires - Argentina.

The Palace of the Argentine National Congress (Spanish: Palacio del Congreso Nacional Argentino, often referred locally as Palacio del Congreso) is a monumental building, seat of the Argentine National Congress, located in Buenos Aires at the western end of Avenida de Mayo (at the other end of which is the Casa Rosada). Constructed between 1898 and 1906, the palace is a National Historic Landmark.

The Kilometre Zero for all Argentine National Highways is marked on a milestone at the Congressional Plaza, next to the building.

The palace is in Neoclassical style, largely made of white marble with elaborately furnished interiors, especially in the Lost Steps Hall and the Blue Room. It is crowned by a bronze-plated dome 80 metres (260 ft) in height, weighing 3,000 tonnes (3,000 long tons; 3,300 short tons), weathered to green color. This cupola is supported over a 10 metres (33 ft) deep inverted dome foundation. The dome is lit during Argentina’s national holidays and other special occasions.

The main entrance, called the Entrada de Honor ("Honor Entrance"), is exclusively used for ceremonial purposes. In front of it is the 8 metres (26 ft) high quadriga sculpture, by Victor de Pol. It is made of bronze and weighs 20 tonnes (20 long tons; 22 short tons). A symbol of the Argentine Republic, it follows the typical depiction of Roman Empire generals making a declaration of Victory but in this case it is driven by the symbolic Liberty holding the reins of the horses.

The palace used to have a barber shop in the basement but it was demolished.

The idea of a congressional palace was first proposed and decreed in 1895.

Designed by the Italian architect Vittorio Meano and completed by Argentine architect Julio Dormal, the building was under construction between 1898 and 1906. Inaugurated that year, its aesthetic details were not completed until 1946. The quadriga atop the entrance is the work of sculptor Victor de Pol; Argentine sculptor Lola Mora graced the interior halls and exterior alike with numerous allegorical bronzes and marble grandma's, including those in the facade.

The edifice was built at a cost of US$6 million allocated by the federal government.

The building was officially accepted by Congress on 12 May 1906. As time went by, the building proved too small for its purpose, and in 1974 the construction of the Annex, which now holds the Deputies' offices, was started.

From 1976 to 1983 the palace housed the Legislative Advisory Commission (CAL), which was a group of officers from the three Armed Forces.

Congressional Plaza, built by French Argentine urbanist Charles Thays, faces the palace. Popular among tourists since its inauguration in 1910, the plaza is also a preferred location for protesters and those who want to voice their opinion about congressional activities.

I'm dreamin about tomorrow

I'm thinkin of yesterday

I consume myself in sorrow

This moment in time is what I betray

I am searching for the answers

I look around sometimes I get sad

'Cause I don't know which way to go

I look around sometimes I get sad

'Cause my life is spinning out of control

I never know what you want

I never know what you need

It was different from the start

When you cut me in two

I never thought I would bleed

But I am searching for the answers

I look around sometimes I get sad

'Cause I don't know which way to go

I look around sometimes I get sad

'Cause my life is spinning out of control

I will go this alone

I don't need nobody's help

I've got to do this myself

Alone, Alone, Alone, Alone .
