Do you like The Wizard of OZ?

here is Anniedollz handmade Tin man outfit for Mary.

My mom nicknamed me the Tinman as a kid because she loved the Wizard of Oz and, of the three brothers, I was the most sassy and ruthless. She joked I had no heart but would one day find it. Look, Momma! I still haven't found one ... but I made one. :) Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Love y'all (ish)!

I was exploring a large cluster of sims dedicated to Fashion and Art - The Avalon Art District sims. It also had several stores on the sim's downtown streets. While exploring, I passed by a large store that sold several really cool items - including some amazing sculpted, textured, and animated statues. the name of the store was called THE PROP SHOP ( Surl: slurl.com/secondlife/Vade%20Mecum/46/103/27 ) and it is run by the creator of many of the items in the store - Balthazar Fouroux.

The store caught my eye immediately because in the huge front display window was this massive statue of the Wizard of Oz "Tinman" sitting on a tree stump with his Axe. It was 3 times larger than me. I loved the design and the look of him and his textured face. This was a animated sculpture create by Balthazar. My mind and SL camera immediate went into action as I had thoughts of a cool SL Photo Art I could possible do with this TINMAN. After taking a couple photos of Tinman in a couple poses, I set out to see what I could do with him.

The next day I removed Tinman from his store background. Then I spent time doing what Photo artists must always do with SL photos of avatars and sculpted/prim shapes that were photo'ed in SL - cleaning up the jagged edges and minor mis-alignments that are noticed on the photo. Then I need a backdrop for the Tinman - obviously some forest. Well I already had a perfect SL forest scene in my inventory from the amazing SIM of the Misty Mountains (location in the credits). Then I spend the rest of my time experimenting with countless texture layers and masks to get the look I wanted of the Tinman - him walking through a dark forest - weather-beaten and rusted. I worked hard to get his face and head to stand out. I made his axe still shiny and gleaming as well as the axe handle.

Hope you like it.

Mission Log # 11 – Second Planetary Survey of Ingemar

Star Date: 2551.06.10 11:00 hrs

The mission commenced at Resilient Base Briefing Room with the following crew present:

• Fazzy Constantine

• T5 “Tinman”

• Chastian Necrosa

• Noah Constantine

• Bansealgair

• Eric Regulus

The mission parameters were clear and simple:

1) Continue the investigation of the base discovered on Ingemar, which was evidently

abandoned by a group who were known to be collectors and concealers of large life forms.

2) Determine the age and function of the clearly older – and now submerged -- habitations

discovered on the first survey.

The team departed Resilient aboard the upgraded Kodiak and proceeded to the landing pad

on Ingemar. The flight was completed without incident, and the crew, consisting of all but

Tinman, departed the Kodiak for the base interior. They proceeded to the moon pool, where

the team appropriated one of the submarines discovered on the prior mission. The intent was

to better explore the submerged portions of the complex surrounding the base, using the probe

deposited on the last mission as a guidance beacon.

Upon submerging, it was clear that a much

holder habitation had been built, and given its configuration and construction, it was built with

the intent to be underwater. Brass-and-rivet beams around large panels of quarter-meter silica

glass were configured into at least two habitations, with what appeared to be a Jeffries tube

connecting them.

Much of the complex appears to be underground, but the submarine was not

equipped with scanning technology beyond SONAR. This would require more extensive

inspection, likely with EVA.

Aside from the underwater habitat, several other geological formations were encountered

including two caves, and at least two abyssal trenches. Life forms were encountered including

jellyfish, rays, tube worms, coral, and various marine flora. One configuration of coral appeared

to have several orbs embedded into it, similar to the ones recovered from Jasper McFudd, and

housed in the laboratory on Resilient. It was at this point that the survey took something of a

turn.

The submarine experienced a number of mechanical failures, with loss of propulsion and

buoyancy control. No cause could be identified within the submarine’s systems, but Bansealgair and Commander Constantine both felt a large presence nearby. At this point,

Chastian activated some portable shield generators to protect the crew. The submarine was

disabled, and oxygen and power supplies were running short. A moment later, from one of the

abyssal trenches in the sea floor, emerged a leviathan. Following a brief but loose collective

bowel movement from the crew, communication was commenced with the gargantuan

intelligence. The leviathan communicated. Listed below is the collection of remarks made:

• Humans. I know your kind. And you. Empath. You are in the wrong place. You cannot

begin to fathom our very existence.

• Impossible to leave now. You are under my serving. My servants, Thralled to control as I

please.

• Those orbs. Are my windows to the galaxy. I have watched your arrival. Your departures.

You fumble in the dark like small creatures. With each passing moment, you have no

doubt become experienced.

• [After the Commander requested assistance with our disabled submarine] My help?

There's nothing I can do for you.

• [After the Commander advises that the leviathan’s “brothers are still alive.”]

Impossible. There is...wait. It cannot be. You bear the insignia of the Shepard.

• I realize you have more orbs in the dwelling in space you call home...but my kind is

alive? We were the apex race. We will be once again.

• Very well. I will let you go. If you fight my creations...then you have my support. But I

am only doing this to see my brothers once more.

At this point, the leviathan receded into the abyss, with power and control of the submarine

returning quickly thereafter. The crew performed an emergency ballast blow, and surfaced

immediately. Once at the surface, the top hatch was opened and the crew had breathable

atmosphere. The vehicle, now depleted of battery energy, was abandoned and the crew swam

for the generator-level pad at the base, then ascended to the landing pad where Kodiak was

boarded for the return to Resilient Base.

Other Conclusions:

• The orbs recovered from Jasper McFudd appear to be palantíri, seeing stones, that allow

one to observe the activities surrounding all of the other stones. This was likely how the

leviathan was able to observe our actions. The orbs were destroyed, along with the

fume hood that housed them.

• Orbs or not, we are likely under the surveillance and possibly the control, of the

leviathan. It cannot be ruled out that this leviathan was behind our movements from

Idun, to Baldur, and the voyage to Tyr. The signals we have received from these various

destinations all may have the same creature as the origin.

• A return mission to explore the habitation carries additional risk of the leviathan

changing its mind.• There is an increasing probability that we may have to demonstrate our commitment to

“fight” the leviathan’s “creations” to remain free of the leviathan’s influence on the

team and to maintain its “support.”

Casualties: Two – Commander Constantine and Engineer Necrosa both suffered anterior

epistaxis. Paroxysmal cephalgia was reported by other crew members, but self-corrected.

Damage: None

• The submarine will need to be towed and/or recharged, but it is undamaged.

Follow-on Actions:

• More extensive review of the signals received from Tyr, Ingemar and elsewhere for

consistency and possible common origin.

• Increase telemetry with the undersea probe.

• Finish repairs to the fume hood in the laboratory.

• Library Computer research on leviathan history is indicated.

MISSION LOG # 12 – THIRD PLANETARY SURVEY OF INGEMAR

Star Date: 2551.06.17 11:00 hrs

The mission commenced at Phorcys Base Landing Pad with the following crew present:

• Fazzy Constantine

• T5 “Tinman” – At Resilient Operations

• Zorathanus Thane

• Chastian Necrosa

• Noah Constantine

• Bansealgair

• Sparky Frenzy

• C.A.R.L.

• Eric Regulus

The mission parameters were twofold. Personnel were split into two teams:

1) Team Mjölnir - Fazzy, Zor, Sparky & Eric were to investigate any remaining orbs and if possible, make contact with the leviathan, and if possible, obtain information on the operation of the quantum slip drive.

2) Team Gungnir - Chastian, Noah, Bansealgair, and CARL were to further explore and assess the undersea caverns which, on Mission #11, showed some interesting scan results.

The team departed from Phorcys moon pool aboard the two existing submarines.

Team Mjölnir

The team departed the moon pool and did a brief reconnoiter of the area previously surveyed. The brass-and-glass habitat was still intact, with lighting active. The power source for the lighting is unknown, unless bioluminescence is employed. The marker beacon was relocated, adjacent to a previously-examined structure that appears to have been carved out of coral. Inside that small, square structure is embedded several orbs, similar to those recovered from Jasper McFudd. Approximately 10 meters from the beacon is a much larger arch, similar in shape and size to the gateway on Idun used by Escanor. The toolmarks all over it suggest it is constructed and not a natural phenomenon. Its proximity to the orbs also suggest they are in some way connected. Using the grappling arms of the submarine, the orbs were collected from the coral formation.

Shortly thereafter, we explored an abyssal trench which revealed no results except an uncatalogued variant of an angler fish. As we ascended, intense seismic activity was noted, and immediately upon exiting the abyss, the submarine was caught in a vortex and forced to the seabed. Oxygen supplies were dwindling, and the vessel was unable to leave the bottom. It was at this point that the leviathan appeared from the same trench we had just left, rising up to look into the submarine. The team switched over to their EVA environments; the submarine’s oxygen supply had been depleted. Communication was established with the leviathan. Attempts were made to glean some more information on the precise operation of the Quantum Drive, but the leviathan refused to cooperate. It did state that the reapers were not unique to the Milky Way, but were in several galaxies and continue to wreak destruction on civilizations. Some of its comments were self-contradictory, and devoid of the linear, logical though patterns one would expect of a species with such intelligence. Offers were made to ally with each other, but they were refused. After pointing out the lack of logic in that decision, the leviathan had a system failure – “Enough theatrics! My time has been wasted enough.....####124 ERROR...SYSTEM FAILURE. REBOOTING...PLEASE WAIT” – and then dissolved before our eyes. No further contact or communication was received by the leviathan. It appeared to be a holographic projection.

Control of the submarine was re-established and the team made an emergency ascent to the Phorchys moon pool.

Team Gungnir

The team left the Phorchys moon pool, and headed for the cavern discovered on the prior survey mission. The interior had not yet been explored, but showed several interesting readings on scans, and visual observations from the opening. The team exited the submarine to proceed into the cavern. Immediately upon entering and clearing a field of kelp, the team discovered a plethora of crystals on the cave walls and floor. Examination of the crystal formations showed they contain a high degree of zero-point energy within the crystal matrix. A sample was secured for further analysis, but initial impressions were that they harbor massive quantities of energy. The strength of the crystal made the lattice impervious to any cutting tools on-hand, so a crystal was recovered whole.

At this point, Team Mjölnir was in distress, so the team returned to their submarine. On arrival, they discovered their oxygen supplies were depleted, so they too made an emergency ascent to the moon pool at Phorcys.

Both Teams

Once both teams had disembarked their submarines, a communication was received at Phorcys. The voiceprint and nature of the communications was consistent with Jasper McFudd; the voice self-identified as “Master McFudd.” He stated we were on his base, which he indicated was intentionally made to appear abandoned. He also stated the leviathan was his, a “holographic reaper,” which we disabled, and “this is not over.” McFudd further stated that there are no longer any reapers; he is making holographic versions, but did not elaborate on the purpose. He stated our prior dispatch of McFudd was one of his clones. Attempts to triangulate the source of the transmission were not successful.

Other Actions and Conclusions:

• The orbs recovered from the sea bed are secured in the fume hood on Phorcys.

• The crystal recovered from the cave has been moved to the maintenance section of Resilient, and is secured in a level-10 containment field.

• Jasper McFudd is at large and represents an ongoing threat to BluShock.

Speculation:

• McFudd may have been the builder of the old brass habitat on the sea bed; the leviathan may have been a security or defense mechanism. It may have scared off the Exogen scientists, if McFudd’s assertion that Phorcys base is his is untrue, and it likely is.

• McFudd’s communications and holo-emitters may be located in the brass habitat.

• McFudd had a clone on Tyr, and a holographic reaper on Ingemar. Both planets house natural resources that represent tremendous power sources. Both the clone and the hologram appear to be there to scare off others who may make the same discovery and wish to collect those resources.

• The crystal from Ingemar, in particular, represents the potential of something that changes the nature of power generation and potentially propulsion. It's a leap, an order of magnitude over a matter-antimatter reaction, or even the Odsy drive. This is potentially a galaxy-changing development. The power and influence that can be held by someone with that level of technology cannot be overestimated. This alone gives McFudd substantial motivation to do anything necessary to protect his interests.

• In the wrong hands, this technology could lead to very bad outcomes for existing civilizations.

• McFudd knows we have some of this material. He may have clones seeded throughout the galaxy. It cannot be known to what extent he, or his agents have infiltrated existing governmental structures. Anyone seen as a threat is assumed to be in danger.

Casualties: One

• Sparky suffered minor motion sickness.

Damage:

• Both submarines will need to be overhauled and recharged, but they are undamaged.

Follow-on Actions:

• Repair of both submarines

• Initiate mining activity to recover all possible crystals.

• Broadcast a bounty for an intact McFudd clone, delivered in stasis.

• Engage in merchant missions to sell the dilithium recovered from Tyr; funds required to pay bounties.

• Conduct continuing examination and testing of the recovered crystal, with analysis of practical applications.

• Dietary restriction initiated on Sparky – no cheese sandwiches prior to missions.

Mission Log # 10 – Return to Vanaheim System, Planetary Survey of Ingemar

Star Date: 2551.06.03 12:00 hrs

The mission commenced at Resilient Base Hangar Deck with the following crew present:

• Fazzy Constantine

• T5 “Tinman”

• Zorathanus

• Noah Constantine

• Bansealgair

• Eric Regulus

The mission parameters were twofold:

1) Spin up the quantum drive and attempt to return Baldur to the Vanaheim System.

a) “Big Brother,” the communications relay we left in Baldur’s orbit, has been sending odd signals from the system. They are too weak to decipher completely, and without a second array, the source cannot be located.

2) Assuming the primary mission is successful, isolate and identify the source of the signal, and investigate further.

The team departed Resilient aboard Kodiak and proceeded to the lower cavern, where the quantum drive was activated. A smoother transition was completed in this instance, and star charts placed us in or original orbit around Vanaheim. Tinman was able to locate the source of the relayed transmissions as originating from Vanaheim -3, also known as “Ingemar,” a Class-O (oceanic) planet. The current orbit of Baldur is very close to perigee (the point at which we departed), and Ingemar was a short impulse flight away. Kodiak was used to move to Ingemar with stealth; Tinman had warned that current atmospheric conditions would be difficult. He was correct. Immediately upon entering the atmosphere, heavy thunderstorms and winds buffeted the ship. Impulse intakes became waterlogged, requiring the impulse intakes to be shut down, and to proceed on maneuvering thrusters.

Shortly thereafter, the ship was struck by an electromagnetic phenomenon. Initially thought to be an unusually powerful lightning strike, later analysis of damaged components strongly suggests a targeted electro-magnetic pulse was used to disable the ship. An emergency landing was performed on an existing landing pad. After a brief survey of damaged ship systems, the team performed a safety-and-security reconnoitering of the facility on which we landed. The existing signal antenna was re-powered, and communication was re-established with Resilient Base. A number of discoveries were made:

• Ingemar has a rocky core, parts of which extend over current sea levels.

• The facility was built by, or for, use by humanoid life. This is evidenced by the size and placement of doors, stairs, control panels, and the arrangements of cockpits of vehicles located therein.

• Technology lags behind current standards. Antique conventional electrical generation and distribution systems are in use. This suggests that the facility was built in the distant past. Given the levels of corrosion, it may have been built shortly before the transition from electrical to EPS systems.

• Two submarine vehicles are moored in a moon pool on the base. Their configuration is consistent with humanoid use, and it indicates that frequent underwater operations were part of the facility’s purpose.

• Docks placed on the surface show several cargo containers, along with four orbs, consistent with those possessed by Jasper McFudd. Three are able to be recovered. The fourth was destroyed by Commander Constantine, in what he described as a ‘scientific experiment.’

• The waters surrounding this area are littered with the wreckage of other ships, some of unknown origin or configuration. Life signs were negative; rescue was not possible.

Visible from the landing pad was a smaller and much older platform which appeared to have been hewn from the existing rock. On that platform was a stone-and-mortar foundation, which appears to be much older than the facility on which we landed. Kodiak was flown down to that level, and the archaeology was inspected further.

• The foundation, which is less than a meter over sea level, contains a flight of stairs leading down into a series of storage grottoes. Metal gates, wall-mounted torches, wooden crates, and clay amphorae were all located beneath the surface, suggesting this complex was once above sea level.

o It may have been built during a prior ice age, and is now flooded.

o Additional water may have reached the planet, by meteorite or other means.

• Further investigation of this complex shows it to end at sheer cliff. The abyss beyond extends down approximately 100 meters. On the sea bed was observed a small round habitation. Light emitting from inside suggests the use of artificial power, or bioluminescence for lighting. Outside of the habitation sits a vessel. It does not appear to be damaged, and its position and attitude on the sea bed suggest intentional placement as opposed to wreckage that found the sea floor.

Access to these deeper artifacts were not possible. Air supplies were limited, and no path down to them could be visualized. It may require the use of the facility’s submarine vehicles. The team withdrew to Kodiak for departure. Given the destruction of Kodiak’s electronic systems, secondary-redundant hydraulic systems were employed to operate the control systems. Flight was by strongarm control and dead-reckoning navigation. Kodiak made an emergency approach and landing to Resilient base and landed without further damage. Space suits and other equipment were sequestered for inspection after exposure to saline, and EMP weaponry. Appropriate repairs were made.

Other Conclusions:

• The EMP that struck the ship was too powerful, and too focused to be a natural phenomenon. This suggests either conscious intent, or automated defense systems are in place on the planet, and also

• There is evidence of long-term humanoid habitation on the planet. Other life forms could not be assessed as a result of the disabled sensor array.

• The orbs on the surface may be connected with those possessed by McFudd, and those recovered on Tyr.

• Communications signals brought us both to Tyr and to Ingemar. This and the orbs suggest a strong connection between Idun, Baldur, Tyr, and Ingemar. The nature of this connection is unknown, but could dramatically impact the safety and stability of our current operation.

Casualties: Remarkably, None

Damage: Extensive

• Kodiak’s EPS and computer systems are destroyed. Extensive damage was sustained to all isolinear chips, sensors, deflectors, shields, communications, and other electronic components.

• Minor damage to some electronic components to space suits.

Follow-on Actions:

• Overhaul of Kodiak, including repair to existing systems and enhancement to protect against additional EMP exposure.

• Launch a planetary probe, or a series of probes into Ingemar.

• Prepare plans for additional missions to the surface.

• Investigate the connections between the orbs, Idun, Baldur, Tyr, and Ingemar, and assess for safety or security threats to BluShock.

• Research enhancing EVA gear for better use underwater.
