This water tower in Baldwin, ME reminds me so much of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. On this trip, the light and the sky combined to offer a great opportunity to share him with my Flickr friends.

For the Smile on Saturday theme of nuts and bolts. Needed to do an archive shot since I am not sure where the tinman is now situated, after the room switch.

the macro mondays theme for today, 12/16, is handmade. this is one of 4 possibilities. i think this one is my favorite :) dithering soon to commence after uploading.

Windows from all over the World

These images are from my large window collection. There seems to be nothing I won’t take a photograph of. However it feeds my total obsession to photography. These are mostly from all over the place, it’s hard to keep track because there are so many but this selection are from shop windows. More images to follow.

That spider will freak out the Scarecrow.

This is a really old shot in my staging folder. I am low on truck shots so i am posting some older shots.One of my toy props from a flea market. I am sure it is sitting in a chest somewhere and i am also sure I have never posted this guy before.

I could be wrong.

Hey there, Mr. Tin Man

I'm glad we talked this out

You can take mine if you want it

It's in pieces now

By the way there, Mr. Tin Man

If you don't mind the scars

You give me your armor

And you can have my heart

A passerby told me they will be tearing this plant down soon, and claimed they will be making a giant tinman from the metal hoppers (??!!)...

Keep it family friendly... Laugh out loud once you get it!

Big thanks to Nikki for dragging out her Dorothy costume once more and reprising her role for this. (Who are we kidding, she sleeps in it.)

My John Deere tin man is a homebody. He is content just hanging around the back porch. :-)

The Somerset Carnivals are highly regarded as the largest illuminated processions in the world.

They take place every November in Somerset, UK. They visit the local towns of Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Glastonbury, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Wells, and Weston-Super-Mare. The largest of these is the Bridgwater carnival which regularly attracts crowds of 150,000.

The carnival carts are designed and built by dedicated carnival clubs around the West Country. The illuminated carts can be up to 100ft in length, 16ft high, and 11ft wide, and some have 20-30,000 light bulbs.

...said the Great and Powerful Wizard, to Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Cowardly Lion. Yeah yeah yeah...I know, it was a green curtain, but geeeesh...oh never mind!!!...lolololololol.

...and now, boys and girls, digging way back, deep into the archives of J-ARG, who else but two of the Rat Pack, that dynamic duo of Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., singing:

~~~ Me and My Shadow ~~~
So with two bands names in the title from the 70s I was going back further to the original Judy Garland song Over the Rainbow,
7DOS on song Black & White Wednesday
Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream,
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
Way above the chimney tops,
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.
