Route Planning

It's about time we got down to finding out about flights. Now that we more or less know our route, and some of the timings, I decided I should ring a few travel agents as our needs were too complicated to do it online.

Boy, is it time-consuming!

Dial-a-Flight were fabulous, answering the phone on the first ring and taking time to talk to me about our choices and options.

Trailfinders took all our details and then both posted me the details and made them available online. The lovely Debbie who took my call gave me lots of advice about Hawaii.

Austravel have just a few itineraries into which to try to force individual requirements. That's something I didn't realise before I rang.

A company in Brighton (Hove ekchewly), Travel Nation, were very helpful.

It's helped me clarify what and when and where we want. I need to chat with Rik then make a booking next week. Once the flights are booked I'll book the shippers (after deciding which one to use).

A year ago today I was tired.

Look hard and see what you can see!

Timing was perfect - we passed through Duka Bovu on a Wednesday, as the last day of our Safari. This meant there was a Masai market going on. We stopped and checked it out.

It was like a surreal blend of various country markets, flea markets and the farmers' markets I've seen in Peru and Ecuador.

The timing advance brought many Nissan Frontiers together. (I was not there but my husband took these pictures)!

The Common Buzzard, living up to its name here, just before it flew off. This happens often when I try to take shots of Buzzards, they tend to evacuate before they evacuate.

The timing belt broke on Skyline Drive. 3 hours of waiting, a call to AAA, and a tow to Harrisonburg was all in our future.

Timing is everything! The westbound (foreground) was just a few seconds too fast to get a perfect meet.

I was taking a shot of my cherry beer when Jake just happened to light a match for a cigar- I liked the effect so kept the pic.

On the 8th night Guruji tweeted "Devi Mahagauri bestows soft healing and luminous wisdom. Devotion is purified through one’s intense effort and the SatGuru’s grace. Then it slowly turns into Bhagavad Prem. This process is long and one has to have patience to attain His Lotus Feet in His divine right timing. The fullness of love for the Divine which is marked with deep patience and joyful acceptance, is Devi Mahagauri’s great gift to Her children".

Guruji spoke this night and spoke about tranformation and making sure its not momentary and to be sincere. The ego is insincere and swims in the ocean of misery. The moment we realise that this is all a delusion of our own egoistic nature then we have to awake and become like Her. Pure, courageous and concious of our true being. The greatest joy is when love awakens inside of us. We are all in servitude to the divine.

I'd love to say I travelled somewhere exotic to take this photo, but I looked out my balcony, saw the setting sun and then darted to grab my camera. I took a single shot. This is that shot.

We got to La Tea about 10 minutes before it started to pour rain!! By the time we finished, it had stopped! Talk about good timing. ;-)

We got the groom there early, I remembered the rings, people laughed in the right places during my speech, and much alcohol was consumed.

All in all, a resounding success.

This is a photo set of the Insane Terrain 5K Race, 2017, in Elkin NC. It was held at the Elkin Park and much of it was ran on the Elkin Valley Rail Trail. Timing was officiated by Go Sports Timing. Photography by Keith Hall Photography Elkin NC.

In 1929 Dr. Manning of Sydney with his wife with an official observer droved this 1928 Chrysler Imperial 80 over dirt roads from Freemantle Post Office to the Sydney GPO in the record time of 3 days 22 hours 52 minutes. These record attempts ended soon afterwards due to public safety fears and revised Government Road regulations that stopped “official” timing of road-breaking on public roads.

Dr. Manning was the first owner of this car, in early 1928 he took the car to Europe to tour around England and Europe for several months. On the return voyage from England the Chrysler was offloaded in Freemantle when the decision was made to challenge the record.

Dr. Manning’s record in this 1928 Chrysler Imperial 80 still stands today (2023) The Chrysler Imperial 80 was sold to the Williams Family in the early 1930’s for use in their Taxi Hire Car business in that City

The Runworx Pecision Timing Slane Castle Run 2012 was held on Sunday 19th August 2012 at 11:30. This is the second running of this event. The event had both a 5km and a 10 mile road race. The races started and finished in the wonderful grounds of Slane Castle. This gave runners a wonderful start and finish area - with the runners visible from a distance out for the assembled spectators to welcome them in. The event was held in conjunction with the Slane Castle Lady Well Fete.
