The 5th round of the 2013 Mullingar Road League 5KM Race, Fun Run, and Walk was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 30rd May 2013 at 20:00. This is 5th, and final, race in the 5 race series. This was a wonderful summers evening and was a perfect evening for running and a very fitting end to the most successful Road League season to date. Some competitors took a break this week as they had completed their 3 races. The race follows a completely traffic free course around the trails and paths of Belvedere House. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 5 (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. There was a big crowd of just under 500 tonight but well over 750 people took part over the 5 nights in May.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: Approximately 450 people took part in tonight's race with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.
Weather: A perfect summer's evening.
Course: This is an undulating course with some good downhill sections near the lake but also some short sharp hill sections on the trails in the woodlands.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Timing this correctly was tricky; I didn't actually get it right in the middle but ice cream was calling
Students often ask whether they need to count from when the weight is at the bottom of the cycle or whether the top is fine. I hope the graph of the sine function up top tells you the answer. The period is the time it takes for the object to return to the initial state, whatever that initial state is. All three T measurements on that graph are legitimate. So measure the state that's easiest for you.

Last Sunday, Chicago was hit by the Great Blizzard of 2015, the fifth largest snowfall ever to hit the city in the 150-someodd years of record keeping. My neighborhood got something like 18 inches in a snowfall that lasted 28 hours straight. And wouldn't you know it, we just happened to be out of town and missed the whole thing. We left Friday evening for this year's version of the birthday trip (more on that tomorrow) without any idea Chicago was due for anything but a light snow. We got back late last night to a city still a little socked in. We had to shovel out our spot before we could park.

Perfect timing: this doggie-themed bunch of goodies (with a German shepherd stamp) has arrived while I'm reading about Rin Tin Tin. :)
OK, instead of going back to bed, I Photoshopped a bit. In this one I stacked 3 layers of the same image and used the "Multiply" layers command. I then used "Levels" to brighten a bit. Smart sharpen to bring out the ribs a bit better and then used the clone tool to get rid of the other saguaros. I rather like the warmth of the sunrise on the saguaro and the blue of the moon behind it.
