Cruising up highway 63 on the first day of our Christmas trip I happened upon the CN backing its train out to Hayward Jct. after switching the LP mill. I missed the caboose (shoving platform) but was able to nab the power going away. CN 5728, December 23, 2011.

For the passengers, it is the lack thereof of great timing...
A 2 hour 10 minute late 303 departs the Springfield, Illinois after passenger detraining and pickup as well as a crew change. Just down the tracks, 303 would have signal issues with the NS dispatcher at Iles making the train 15 minutes more late. However, the train's tardy appearance allowed me to catch it in some form of good light, so I can't really complain.

The railtour, organised by the Southern Electric Group (SEG) and the Locomotive Club of Great Britain (LCGB) covered some very rare track for a Class 50, the highlight being the first ever visit of a Class 50 to Hastings and also the first standard loading gauge Mark 1 loco hauled train to traverse the line from Tonbridge to Hastings.
185 miles of Class 50 haulage ;)

TEXTO DO ERNANIB:
Ajude!!! Divulge!!! Dê corda nesses pequenos relógios de vida.

There is a time for planting and a time for harvesting. We are all in a hurry to live, not to die.We have time for internet, for friends, for playing, for working and we never have time to stop and help others. We have time for watching TV, reading the papers or a good book but we never have time for reading a message asking for help.
But there are the ones who don’t have any more time to lose. The ones who didn’t have time to plant. That barely have time to play. That won’t have time to say “I love you, mom, dad”. Because someone, somewhere didn’t have time to read this message, to try to know what it means, to try to know how to help. Because many times who could help don’t have the time, because it’s not an investment with short term interest or because thinks its time is too valuable to spend with somenone who doesn’t have that much time.
Stop for a moment.Try to read and get informed. The children that are about to say their goodbyes to life will be thankful for these few moments you took to help them.. Don’t let their life clocks stop just because you didn’t want to waste your time. Help them! Spread the word! Wind up these little life clocks

Carta do Padre Alfredo
IBCM
Prezado Amigo,a,
Feliz Natal!
pe Alfredo

A collection of clocks & watches round the house. I never realised I had so many time telling instruments!
I was trying to get this shot with as little people as possible and without any cars driving by. It seemed like once there was a break in traffic someone would walk out of the city hall building or in front of my camera. Then when there were no people a bunch of cars would drive by. After waiting for a while I finally got a break in people and car traffic to get a shot.
This is the city hall building in Portland, Maine.
... if you want to avoid getting drenched. Of course, not everyone did want to avoid getting drenched. :)
Before visiting the Shard yesterday I had a wander around the surrounding area and came across these fountains near the river. Actually, if I'm being honest, I'd have to say that I only saw them because I took the wrong exit from London Bridge station. The Shard is right next door if you leave by the correct exit. That would be the exit with a sign saying 'The Shard' and an arrow pointing towards it. :)))
I couldn't decide if I preferred this image in colour or mono, but I think the mono has the edge for me.

This Picasso was originally used by The AA for a field based Inspections engineer, and was part of a fleet of around 60 similar vehicles. At the time of the photo it had covered 90,000 miles and was having a timing belt kit fitted along with new auxilliary drive belt.
It is a 2002 registered 2.0 HDI SX model. More Pictures to follow!

The University of Al-Karaouine or Al-Qarawiyyin (Arabic: جامعة القرويين) (other transliterations of the name include Qarawiyin, Kairouyine, Kairaouine, Qairawiyin, Qaraouyine, Quaraouiyine, Quarawin, and Qaraouiyn) is a first university in the world located in Fes, Morocco which was founded in 859. It has been and continues to be one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the Muslim world.
The Al-Karaouine played a leading role in the cultural and academic relations between the Islamic world and Europe in the middle ages. The cartographer Mohammed al-Idrisi (d. 1166), whose maps aided European exploration in the Renaissance is said to have lived in Fes for some time, suggesting that he may have worked or studied at Al Karaouine. The University has produced numerous scholars who have strongly influenced the intellectual and academic history of the Muslim and Jewish worlds. Among these are Ibn Rushayd al-Sabti (d. 1321), Mohammed Ibn al-Hajj al-Abdari al-Fasi (d. 1336), Abu Imran al-Fasi (d. 1015), a leading theorist of the Maliki school of Islamic jurisprudence, Leo Africanus, a renowned traveler and writer, and Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon.
The Al Karaouine institution is considered by the Guinness book, the UNESCO and many historians] as the oldest continuously operating academic degree-granting university in the world. However, this claim is contested by other historians who consider that medieval universities in the Islamic world and medieval European universities followed very different historical trajectories until the former were expanded to the latter in modern times, and the certificate delivered in non-European universities deviated in concept and procedure from the medieval doctorate out of which modern university degrees evolved.
In 1947, it was reorganized to become a modern university.

I just decided to go to the south end of Murray to see if anything was going on. I had no idea this was around. Luckily (for me), this train had to drop off some bad orders before continuing to Knoche, so I got several good shots of it. Kansas City Southern ET44AC #5009 and ES44AC #4802 lead a 96 car loaded grain train over to Knoche yard where it will eventually depart and go south on the Pittsburg Sub. Another rarity (at least for me) is catching both locomotive turned forward on one of these (They're usually back to back).
Overview of the timings from the detector. To simulate the ambient light one IR laser is set in continue mode. The signal level on the detector for this simulated light was about 65 ( right side diagram) the ADC has a range of 2.56V, so 65 means .65V or 650 mV. The left side of the diagram show where the second but now pulsed IR laser come in action. This pulsed light goes now to level 105 or 400 mV above the simulated ambient.
On the diagram you see also how long its take to transfert a data string via the SPI bus. This time is 1.83 usec to transfert one 8 bit ADC value. The total cycle time for 2 measurements is 65.35 usec. On the diagram you see also where the laser drive is on and off. The AVR controller runs on the internal clock of 8 MHz.
God has perfect timing, never early and never late, and it take a little patience and a lot of faith. ~God for all season~
An HDR effect, needs 3 same exact image with different exposures.
Just like in life. When you're in trouble, our emotions could be in 3 types of exposures.
1. It could be so washed away exposure, lack of colors like life that is empty, your emotions feeling of hopeless desires.
2. Medium exposure, is in control. It's the spiritual that is in focus to God.
3. Dark exposure, is when you fall unto feeling of depression, darkened desires.
But when tree combined .... we put God in control, He will control all, and will turn our life into extraordinary colors.
Emotions, self thinking, flesh, give it up, let it die, and let God rule and take control of our emotions and the very flesh. Keep the faith, it's God's ways and not ours.
