Beginning efforts with tabletop photography and the watches I have acquired. I am building a website of my watch collection for my own personal artistic expression; not to be an influencer or to monetize my YouTube channel. Love the bracelet on this watch! I am using a Meike extension tube in conjunction with the 135mm which still allows for autofocus.
The Jeep is a 1:18 scale Jeep Rubicon and the Timex is a new release in 2024.
My next experiment this time was to try get a shot of a watch. The brand chosen: TIMEX. Looks easier said than done. Based on my research and some basic free tutorial guidance from Alex Koloskov (thanks Alex), I was able to understand a little on how the outcome should be. When you have light hitting the watch, it needs to softened up, and diffused. A really good image should have clarity and color of the original watch and at the same time should stand out. The difficulty was getting the right amount light. Too much light would reflect off the glass, this would mean the inner text and lines might get blurred out. Again this is an experiment and with a lot of trial and error, I might end up getting it right.
The good thing is that even with very rudimentary equipment, shots are getting interesting in their own way. And this makes me anxious to see what I shoot next.
So until the next time, thank you for visitng. This shot was taken with a D5000 Nikon and Tokina Macro 100mm F2.8 lens.

The Flickr Lounge-Clock Or Time
I have had this watch for a very long time and it is great since I can use it in the dark.
March 29th, 2011 (88/365)
My old Timex finally had one to many dips in the pool and packed it in the
other day. I picked up this model and I just love it! Right now when I run
I run for 3 minutes and walk for 1 minute. With my new watch I can program
in the intervals and press start and it does the rest! It even keeps track
of how many reps I've done!
Back in 2010 I got into doing triathlon pretty obsessively (actually, that is the only way to do triathlon 😉) and my Uncle (now 94 and he only quit doing tri at 90) and my cousin (6 years older than me) were doing some of the very first Kona Ironmans back in the 80's. I know that because I did my first "sprint" tri on Oahu in 1984 when I was finishing up my enlistment in the Navy. I think that was the first year my cousin did Kona and then the both of them I think successfully did over 15 Konas each. Back then, not sure now, if you got a podium finish in your age group, they gave you this Timex Ironman Commemorative watch. You can see the imprint above the watch face that shows 2006. Anyway, as I was progressing with my races, my Uncle gave me his podium watch and it really meant alot and inspired me many times sitting on my desk wondering if I really needed to go out and train again and again AND again. This would be probably considered too diminutive by all the pros and high rollers that actually get to do the Kona race these days but it is a great memento for me and now that I am a newb watcher, I have some basic tools and I was able to replace the 2016 battery. Of course I had to drop one of those microscopic screws in the carpet. Even tho I would never wear this, it would be disrespectful if I did not have the watch all squared away. We all good now.
Not a very glamorous 'product' shot, more of a 'this is what it looks like' shot.
Guess I'm old-fashioned, I prefer an analog watch face. I looked around for an analog/digital, but they all have 47 functions - like barometer and thermometer - I'm unlikely to ever use. Omega used to make (30 years ago) an LCD watch that displayed an analog or digital face, but I couldn't find it.
This is a meat and potatoes watch. Time, day and date, readable in the dark and under $90.
The boy came home from school with his watch strap in tatters. As a growing teen, his boys watch hardly fitted anyway, so I treated him to a new men's times watch. He is most excited by the backlight function!
