Looking Close...On Friday

This is my Timex Wrist Watch. I love that it has a sweep hand, light and the date on it.

Such a fun and delightful little timepiece.

Time change wouldn't let me post this in the Flickr Lounge, but it just did :)

I have been looking for a Timex Indiglo watch for a while and finally found one I like. It's got an expansion bracelet and it lights up for night viewing. Had one of these many years ago and loved it. My favourite type of watch to be sure!

I don't think I've actually bought a Timex watch for myself in 30 years. Just not hip enough, you understand. Well sirs, my snobbery melted the first time I saw a picture of this particular model, called a Todd Snyder, which I think is a very odd name for a watch.

Just look at it, it's got all the burly man stuff of which I have no knowledge whatsoever and even less desire to learn about. It's enough for me just to know it exists.

For example, there's this teeny ring around the outside perimeter that I have to get a magnifying glass out to read: " Telemeter 1 Mile", whatever the hell that means. Is this a function only the exceptionally ocular gifted can use whilst traveling? I dunno.

But what really took my wheezing breath away was that red spiral thingie in the middle. It's got a whole jumble of numbers on it -- as ever diminishing values spiral down from 400 to... uh, 20. And no clarifying label whatsoever, further shrouding it in mystery.

Then the capper though, right down at the very bottom, it's full name, all artsy letter-spaced out: Todd Snyder. Not just Todd. Not just The Snyder or something dumb, but the whole wandering caboose!

I paused only for a moment wondering what that was all about before I shrugged and strapped this beauty on.
