Nunnington Hall in Ryedale, North Yorkshire
It was William Parr, 1st Marquess of Northampton, brother of queen consort Catherine Parr, who built the oldest parts of the surviving house of Nunnington, which now form part of the west front. Following the forfeiture of the estate after his death in 1571 (for his part in setting Lady Jane Grey on the throne), Nunnington was again subject to let. One of the tenants was Dr Robert Huicke who was physician to both Catherine Parr and Elizabeth I. Dr Huicke was to be the one to tell the Queen that she would never have children. Huicke never lived at Nunnington however and the estate was managed by stewards. The sub-lease was granted to Thomas Norcliffe in 1583 and the family made many alterations over the next sixty years.
In 1603 George Watkins and others were granted a lease of the manor for thirty-one years. After 25 years, however, it was granted to Edward Ditchfield and others of the City of London, who sold it the same year for £3,687 to John Holloway who held the manor in 1630. By 1655 the manor had been sold for £9,500 by Humphrey Thayer to Ranald Graham, a merchant of Lewisham. Ranald was succeeded by his nephew Sir Richard Graham of Netherby, who was created Viscount Preston in 1681. He was attainted in 1689 for attempting to join James II in France and his lands and property were confiscated, but later returned after he was pardoned. He was succeeded by his son and heir Edward, the 2nd Viscount and he in turn by his son Charles, 3rd and last Viscount Preston. Charles' heirs on his death in 1739 were his aunts, Mary Graham and Catherine, Lady Widdrington, who were granted joint possession of the manor of Nunnington in 1748. Mary died unmarried and Lady Widdrington left her estates to Sir Bellingham Graham, Bt., of Norton Conyers. The property then descended in the Norton Conyers Graham family until 1839, when it was sold to William Rutson of Newby Wiske, the son of a Liverpool merchant.
The hall was inherited in 1920 by Rustons' great-niece Margaret Rutson, who had married Ronald D'Arcy Fife. They undertook a major renovation of the property in the 1920s using the architect Walter Brierley.
My first attempt at pastiche. I merged 10 photographs to make it and used around 8 different textures.
An officer of the Specialist Search Unit of Greater Manchester Police’s Tactical Aid Unit conducts a security search of one of the harder to reach areas of the Manchester Central Convention Centre prior to a major political conference.
The unit, which is equipped with a wide range of specialist equipment, can provide officers to plan and conduct searches and other tasks in hazardous environments. These may range from areas considered dangerous due to height such as radio masts, crags, tall buildings or close to any unprotected edge. They can also advise on access into confined areas, whether a flooded cellar, silo, pit, culvert or other location that would present significant danger to other officers.
Officers of the unit also coordinate searches of major crime scenes and large scale searches for missing persons amongst a wide range of other duties.

Best on Black.
My intention was to capture the halo effect on the flower stems backlight by the evening sun. The hedge cast a moving shadow so I was preoccupied to get the shot quickly. Along came the bee ! I know he's not super sharp but he was moving fast without any consideration for my artistic intentions.
I try again...
Tthat`s my second movie shots with the same timelapse shots of my previously movie...
But that`s much better than first, I think...
Thank you very much to all of you for comments and appreciations!

She always come to check the book out when I read, like when she always dunk her whole head into each bag of grocery each time I come home with it. I feed her curiousity too ;-)
Reading to her doesn't put her to sleep of course, she's more interested on the flipping pages.
Snatched this scene from a video I took of T-Bear and myself from my good old fujifilm camera. Pretty noisy as I had the lens zoomed while taking the video. Lighting used wasn't good enough for video captures either but I liked the story the scene tells =)

They have nice escalators in the London Tube :)
Of course I had to take some escalator pictures but I hadn't enough time to plan them, since we had to go on...

It's time for summer again in North Carolina, and that means I need to make another furry steering wheel cover. I designed this one last year, and got so many compliments! I made a different color for the fall, and it was pretty with browns and greens - earthy!
Here's the pattern: spinningsandy.blogspot.com/2006/03/furry-fuzzy-steering-w...
(13th September) is my 21st birthday and I thought about doing this page a little differently. Obviously because it's my birthday, I've aged and time is passing.
So I decided to take some wrapping paper, ribbons, plastic, tiny parts of envelopes &tissue paper and take a colourful memento of my 21st birthday!
The Wrap This Page is from a friend of mine who is also working her way through her WTJ.
I thought the idea was pretty need and subtle. It means a lot to me and that's all that counts.
Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won't you stop and remember me
At any convenient time?
Funny how my memory skips
While looking over manuscripts
Of unpublished rhyme
Drinking my vodka and lime
I look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter
Time for a safety drill to rap up this dive! Diver Brent Richmond tows Sean Sheldrake, USEPA after a disposal site survey to make use of the long surface interval required for the 80 foot dive. Regular practice of dive rescue is an integral part of dive operations to stay prepared for "Murphy's law".
EPA divers around the country this month will be diving in to evaluate dredge material disposal sites where ports deposit tons of sand. Every year ports around the country must dredge to specified depths to allow vessels to navigate to their berths safely. Material erodes from upland areas and washes down into small tributaries, then larger rivers, necessitating removal by dredging. Without these dredging activities, sand bars would grow to enormous heights -- making ocean to river entry more than a little worrisome to even the most experienced captain, worse yet, causing conditions that are treacherous. For more information, see: water.epa.gov/type/oceb/oceandumping/dredgedmaterial/dred...

This is my first attempt at a Time lapse video, Wanted to try it out on my new old Nikon D200, I think works great fun to play around with. I Slowed it Down in Final cut Pro and Did Some color adjustments in After effects. On a Side note I was threatened by two homeless men across the street next to the starbucks who said they would break my camera if I didn't leave. Not sure why it bothered them so much they where so angry. Well Short story Short I tried to Shoot longer but they wouldn't led up so I left. Stinks It was really going well for my first attempt. Thanks for looking. Mark

In the beginning ....
.... I used to have lots of time but I am getting seriously backlogged again :-(
If only every dawn was as serene as this.
For our Maldives holiday this year I decided to to pack a glass sphere to see what bizzare refractions I could capture (not the large, pure one I bought Laura at Christmas but a smaller, slightly imperfect one that is part of a suncatcher)
I perched this on the tripod and did a couple of test shots with my phone to see what angles worked best and then I waited for the sun to appear. It rises very quickly so I rattled off a few dozen shots at different settings and compositions and this was the one I preferred.
