Morning in the mountains sometimes makes me feel as if I'm looking across time, into the past, and seeing the world as it looked in it's younger days.

Sometimes you just have to be on time...This mother and her child were just a little bit to late for the Chinese lantern parade with "Sinterklaas" and "Zwarte Piet". They are waiting for everybody to come back at this point.

Shot on Kodak Portra, in an original Soviet LOMO LC-A, and developed at home.
My college friends hold a reunion trip up to Northern Michigan (Traverse City area) every Fall and I was very lucky this year that my company decided to send me back to Michigan to conduct interviews at the same time. We spent the weekend up on Lake Michigan having a great time. I packed all my camera gear with me and made my friends pull over at every pretty thing I saw. On Sunday we took a drive over to Leeland, Michigan and we passed this awesome barn that we had to stop and photograph.
I also brought along my new "Promote GPS" receiver for my D300s. Once I figured out that I needed to turn the "Auto Exposure" Power mode off until it got a GPS lock, the thing worked *great*.

HDR composed of 5 photos (1/60, 1/160, 1/100, 1/40, 1/25 sec) in Photomatix Pro
For this HDR, I tried to go with a bit more of a "natural" look while still getting the texture of the high contrast "grunge" HDR look. The barn almost borders on a bit cartoonish, but I think it still works. I may try tweaking this a bit some more, but I'm pretty pleased with this version.
Fall colors, sandstone layers, erosion - so many measures of time are represented in this Zion National Park landscape.

This image is of the Sun Dial at the Chinnese Gardens on the Tacoma WA Waterfront on Commencement Bay, The image was taken between heavy storms.

As the sun descended into the Manhattan labyrinth for Manhattanhenge, this couple got ready to view it.
We didn’t spend a lot of time on the beach in front of our resort (that’s not our style), but we did spend some. We also discovered that by staying in the area that caters more to Europeans, you get the occasional (to our right and our left) topless sunbather (not pictured).
