Xmas time. A big shopping mall in Clermont-Ferrand, a couple of days before Christmas. You can tell the kids are truly watching the passing time.

Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.
The 2011 Sci-Fi Thriller "In Time" with Justin Timberlake was shot entirely in Los Angeles.

A mad dash through the back streets of Woodley and Twyford had got us from Duffield Road to Ruscombe while Bittern filled up with water... A third shot of Bittern for the day! LNER Gresley A4 Pacific 4-6-2 4464 "Bittern" pulls away from its scheduled stop at Twyford, leading the return Oxford to Lewes "Cathedrals Express" charter . The A4 took over the train at Willesden and was a late replacement for A1 "Tornado", which failed its fitness to run examination the day before.
Time is very slow for those who are waiting,
very fast for those who fear,
too long for those who complain,
too short for those who rejoice,
but, for all those who love, time is eternity.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: The third doll is Daphne. I've had her since I was about seven years old. She is one of the dolls our grandparents gave us that they found while working at the Salvation Army. As I explain on the "My Story: Skipper dolls" photo, she was originally liked and played with (Shelly took her to the beach once) by both of us but not anybody's special favorite. For some reason, I got really interested in Daphne and Skipper in general during the early fall of 2002. I started casting her as "Daphne" (her name was "Dystin" before as I explain on the "My Story: Skipper dolls" photo), one of Kocuom's daughters. Daphne had a major ego problem. She used to sing, "Yeah, Daphne, she's a star! Yeah Daphne!" (If you know that, you basically know all the lyrics.) She was also a gymnast. She was a gymnast because I got her in a ragged Jewel Secrets leotard and, having done gymnastics myself in my early years, I thought "oh, if she has a leotard, she must do gymnastics." Amazingly, this random thing about Daphne coming in a leotard made me choose to make her and every Skipper character after her have that hobby! After I acquired Robin (Pet Pals), poor Daffy got ditched and recast as Robin's friend (she still retained her name and personality traits). Actually, "friend" is being too generous...she got cast as a "frenemy." You know, being jealous of Robin, saying mean things to poor Margie (Hawaiian Fun), and being the rich, snobby girl. We usually made her Xpress it! Meygan's sister because, coming in the fur coat and all, we thought Meygan looked sort of entitled too. They would have a personal driver pick them up at Robin's house. One day, when I was playing with her, making her do gymnastics, her head broke! She was, by then, quite old and Skippers have a tendency to lose their heads. It took me a very long time (over a decade) to finally find her the good body she is on. She spent the better part of the last decade on Devon's (Phone Fun Skipper) body. Of all my Skippers that broke, it was the hardest having it happen to Daphne. I think the biggest reason is that she means as much to me as Robin and Margie--even if she did typically play the bad guy. Part of it is that it was the first time and that I blamed myself like "the doll was fine until she was played with every day." After a while though, I got used to Skippers losing their heads and just learned to roll with it (pun intended).
The second and fourth girls are dolls I acquired sometime between 2003 and 2004. I named the doll to the right of Daphne "Claire" and she actually was cast as Daffy frequently because she was in better shape but looked much like her, especially as they both had dread-locked hair instead of puffy curls. I went through a faze of being extremely taken with Claire as a result. The other beauty never got a name, but I think I've had her longer than Claire.
The doll on the far left is really special. Dad bought her for me on eBay as a Christmas gift in 2003. I named her Yvonne. For years, we didn't know that Daphne was a Courtney (or even some type of Skipper friend). Opening a brand new version of the mystery doll my grandparents gave me in 1993 was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had with a doll. Yvonne came with the coolest stuff and the pamphlets she came with kept me busy for hours! If anything, as opposed to diminishing, her novelty has grown for me. I think that is because Yvonne has truly grown on me since Dad passed away. Every time I see her, I remember all the great things he did with us and for us back in 2003. I've become more fond of her than ever--she still feels as cool and interesting as she did on Christmas day 2003, but now, instead of feeling like a stranger, she's become a member of the family. She's one of my very favorite dolls too--just like Daphne! It's amazing how we don't really choose our dolls sometimes, they choose us and they shape us as collectors. For example, the random leotard that didn't really go with her--it set me in motion to make Daphne, Robin, and a lot of their friends gymnasts and cheerleaders. It was ironic that I didn't know, for many years, that Daphne was a Courtney. Unaware of that, Shelly bought a Totally Yo Yo Courtney when I was in my very early teens (probably 12). She was our first store bought Skipper affiliate--and they were BOTH Courtneys. While the line would be totally iconic all on it's own--school clothes and pajamas--i think Daphne is what planted the seed, once I realized who she was. I became obsessed with this line not long after getting Yvonne. However, what makes the dolls special is my memories, not just how awesome they are. Daphne is such an old part of my doll collecting history (prehistoric like the dinosaurs) that my memories wouldn't be the same without her. Yvonne is special because of my dad and that special Christmas. Because of the love in my heart for them, Teen Time Courtney is one of my favorite dolls of all time.
My beautiful niece at bath time. I think this photo could be better but those eyes of hers get me every time.

Test shot for a photoshoot. I never saw the end result, but it was:
* Me taking a photo of Caterina, ...
* while they took a photo of us (made meta since their lights and stuff hung in the shot),
* posted to Flickr,
* projected up on a screen,
* while we sat on stools in front the laptop connected to the projector, looking back into the camera which took in the whole scene.
Meta.
