Macro Mondays - Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

Some see a weed, some see a wish.

It's a fine Easter morning in Janesville, as Wisconsin & Southern's eastbound freight, Y302, crosses over the Rock River with traffic that is headed for the Belt Railway of Chicago.

I found this pretty little Grey Catbird hanging out at the birdbath with his friends. His only complaint . . . the other two don't say much :)

The River Dane and the packhorse bridge at Three Shires Head, the meeting point of the counties of Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire. At one time a site for illegal bare-knuckle fighting. If the authorities were to appear, the participants could hop over the river into one of the other counties to escape being arrested.

Taken through my window, I was surprised to see this today on my garden wall.

The three towers of Downtown Dallas' Sheraton Hotel reach for the North Texas clouds.

The geese are very active and present. Three this time, a magical number for a photo, I think.

The German poem "The Three Sparrows" by Christian Morgenstern (see below) dates from 1921 (Era of Expressionism).

Because of copyright, I can't simply translate the poem, but the content is about the three sparrows Erich, Franz and the "cheeky" Hans, who sit in a bare hazel bush in winter.

The poem describes in impressive atmospheric density the protection and security that the three little birds can give each other in the icy cold, with Hans, who sits in the middle, he has the warmest.

Die drei Spatzen

In einem leeren Haselstrauch

Da sitzen drei Spatzen, Bauch an Bauch.

It’s getting close to being clear up here again. This was late June last summer and my first backpacking trip of the season. It’s always a challenge with the mosquitos when these’s all this standing water from the snow melt but hard to beat the early summer views.

These squirrels would do anything, as you can see, to eat the bird seeds! One would climb the feeder & all the spills below would also be quickly eaten up! Poor birds, I've moved the feeder since so the birds could eat their fill, lol =) Best viewed large.

Three blooms on my amazing pink hibiscus.

Three geese showing me that they were not amused when I walked closer to them. This shot was taken in the wayside park on Scott County Road 101 in Shakopee, Minnesota.

I do not know for sure what species of goose they are - probably Greylag. I would appreciate it if anyone knows for sure.

Three Gossips is a mid-sized sandstone tower (about 350 feet at its tallest wall) sitting atop a roundish pedestal within the Courthouse Towers "cluster" that also includes The Argon Tower, The Organ, Tower Of Babel, Sheep Rock, and The Lamb. The name no doubt comes from a slight resemblance of the formation to three heads "gossiping" to each other.

The tower has three flat and distinct summits: North, Middle, and South - all of approximately the same height. The North summit (probably the largest) is split by a wide chimney - a small jump gets you from one half of it to the other. Several published routes access the North and South summits (see Routes Overview section below); no routes are currently listed in published guidebooks for the Middle summit (but I thought that rap slings might have been visible on it).

Summit elevation of 4800 feet is a rough estimate based on information on a Topozone map.

DON’T SPOIL THE SOIL!

Much of the SE Utah desert including the Arches National Park is home to Cryptobiotic Soil Crust. Watch where you step as this stuff is extremely sensitive and this “stuff” is also what’s keeping erosion at bay on hillsides. The NPS recommends using established trails, sandstone slabs, and/or sandy washes for your foot travel throughout the park. For further information see the many links provided by Dr. Brian Jenkins: link 1, link 2, link 3, link 4, link 5, link 6

While on the topic, don’t soil the soil either! Don’t be a filthy animal and pack out your solid waste!

And shortly after, an ex-stickleback thanks to this stunning local kingy. He has quite a high success rate compared to many kingies I have seen.
