This embroidery thread belonged to my grandmother. It was passed on to my father, and then to me. I'm looking forward to making some great embroidery with it.
Size #3 crochet thread equivalent to sport weight cotton yarn) with irregular medium size bottle glass beads.
Part of the "Dichroic Pendant Cords" superpattern at my DesigningVashti crochet site.
Other variations use sizes #30, #20, #10, #5 crochet threads.

A female thread-waisted wasp, Ammophila sp., pausing momentarily on a leaf. Leavenworth, Kansas, August 5, 2019.
These are very flighty, but this kept coming back to the same spot in the sand and digging madly. I don't know if it was a male trying to get to an emerging female, or a female, trying to uncover a nest in progress.
Species identification is very difficult, if not impossible, in this genus.

The light box I made from 1/2 PVC pipe works rather well. I used a piece of bed sheet to defuse the light of 3 lamps.
By the threading process every single hair is pulled out of the roots one at a time using a thread. This process is used for removal of short rows of hairs
LW goes to work on Sat and I go to garage sales. This time I hit the jackpot and found these Thread cases full of silk thread on wood spools from the 1950's or 60's. I am thrilled.
