Worked at Armidale Council from 1991 – 1999, moved to Katoomba and Blue Mountains Council up until 2004 and am now living just North of Brisbane (Narangba) and working at Kilcoy Shire Council (very small country Council). My beloved “Aggie Kung Fu Panda” has been “taken” from his office in the Corps of Cadets Centre by a senior trumpet player in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. “Band Boy” took him to an Asian restaurant. That’s a bit of a stereotype. “Aggie Kung Fu Panda” loves BBQ ribs and brisket. He called me and said, “They think because I’m a panda bear, I like raw fish.”

Those receiving a Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, at the Salem State University’s College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 21, at 10 am were:

The sixth round of the PBR World Finals from Las Vegas, was an exciting round of bull riding. The scores from the five rounds of bull riding determined the top fifteen bull riders who advanced to the Championship Round on Sunday afternoon. These were the best of the best, those who tried a little harder and wanted it more than the next guy. The bulls were the rankest, toughest bulls in the PBR, and there wasn’t an easy eight second ride to be had. Qualified rides would have to be earned with try, guts, and will power.
After the dust settled on Sunday afternoon, Silvano Alves rode Yellow Jacket Jr for a score of 92.5 points to win the title of PBR World Champion. Silvano of Brazil made PBR history when he went from Rookie of the Year to World Champion in exactly twelve months. Silvano is only the second former top rookie to claim the championship title. Silvano had ridden five out of his six bulls at the PBR World Finals.
Robson Palermo won the Championship round with a score of 93.25 aboard King of Hearts. Robson won the 2011 Built Ford Tough PBR World Finals event including the prized buckle and the $250,000. Robson had also won the World Finals event in 2008.
Rubens Barbosa was named Rookie of the Year, after competing in only the last nine events of the regular season on the Built Ford Tough Series.

Thanks to those who came down to the task at Sandy Smith yesterday; fortunately the weather was better than I had seen forecast!
It was a good task; it was nice to see so many of the tree we planted last year surviving and also to see more trees planted to reinforce them. The ditching crew also did a good job and Malcolm demonstrated that a little mud and water can go a long way!
There will be NO TASK next week because of Easter. After that normal service will be resumed with the ‘tartan mowing’ task at Maulden Heath on Tuesday 10th April; meet at the Picnic Area at 10am.

So as we gathered together for morning prayers little did we expect the bombshell that was about to shatter our dreams and aspirations. Mr. T. spared nothing in blatantly announcing that we were only to work until lunchtime! This was to get us acclimatised to not working at all next week. Well, the little group of Dave’s cuddled together whimpering, holding hands, their little knees and chins quivering in the wind. Couldn’t we stay just a bit after lunch if we promised to be good and do what we were told. ‘No’ came the stern reply in Mr. T’s eyes. We could tidy up the two tree enclosures, plant another 20 trees, a few of us could play in the mud but then we would have to leave.
So we trudged off to woods. Mr. T’s heart softened a little and he let us form a ‘bucket line’ to take water from the ditch and fill a couple of large plastic Trugs so we could water in the 25 trees we were to plant. So we all got a chance to play in the water.
Three of us went off to clear another ditch of obstructions and see who could get the muddiest while the remainder cleared away the undergrowth that was overgrowing the fences and plant 15 trees in one and the remaining 15 in the other.
And so by lunchtime all 40 trees were planted and it was time to leave. The Moffatt tried to do a runner, taking a hand saw and disappearing along the bank in search of offending tree roots to remove but eventually he was called to heel. Mr. T. finally took pity on us and allowed us to take home a few logs to play with over the Easter break.
Many thanks to all who came, hope you get over the withdrawal symptoms and see you in two weeks time for some tartan mowing - och aye the g’nu.
And yes, Jackie did make me strip off on the patio before putting my clothes in the washing machine and hosing me down!

Admirable summary Mr W and cakes too were more than admirable even though I restrained myself from partaking in the fruit cake. (Mr T's donuts were also highly desirable) Hope you are feeling better and will soon regain your country seat.

Those heading south, who also want to escape the mass-tourism soullessness of Vung Tau, could press on to Long Hai, a less-commercialised seaside retreat within a couple of hours’ drive of HCMC. The fishing village of Long Hai, 30km northeast of Vung Tau, has a pretty white-sand beach and the area benefits from a microclimate that brings less rain than other parts of the south. Its natural beauty and microclimate are the main reasons why Bao Ðai, the last emperor of Vietnam, built a holiday residence here (now the Anoasis Beach Resort).

Long Hai is a peaceful place to visit during the week, but it loses its local character on the weekends when Vietnamese tourists (and the occasional busload of Chinese visitors) pack the sands on weekends. Though there are a couple of low-key resorts in the Long Hai vicinity, western travellers have yet to arrive, so if you’re looking for a lively spot with dining and nightlife action, Mui Ne is probably a better choice.
This dead on view of the temple brings out those columns niceley and allows for a glimpse inside the temple. It is a very unfavourable view for the olive tree however.

One of those areas that has been done quite a few times now but is inevitable at some point in my drawing life time. The Phallic Maraca, is common place in most places these days, like yester year's mobile phone, to not have one is to not have anything so to bow down to the times here is my portrayal of one in modern society.
