These flies were very annoying and would bother us when they didn't have birds to bother. I guess these birds don’t have too many feathers on top of their head so it’s easier for the flies to bite them. Jabiru taken in North Pantanal, Brazil.

The days that were filled with laughter and sunshine….washtubs filled with water, backyard picnics under the trees, and wagon rides. Those were the best days.

Sunset at Royal William Yard.
The Royal William Victualling Yard in Stonehouse, a suburb of Plymouth, England, was the major victualling depot of the Royal Navy and an important adjunct of Devonport Dockyard. It was designed by the architect Sir John Rennie and was named after King William IV. It was built between 1826 and 1835 and occupies a site of approximately 16 acres (65,000 m2) being half of Western Kings, north of Devil's Point.
The Yard was released from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in 1992 and subsequently passed to the Plymouth Development Corporation. Upon the Corporation's closure in 1999, the Yard was then passed to The South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) who funded and carried out the extensive c. £60m restoration of the structural fabric of the majority of principal buildings and infrastructure within the yard between 1999 and 2008. During this period the buildings were recategorised from Scheduled Monuments to Grade I/II listed buildings. Private sector development partners Urban Splash were then engaged to carry out the specialist conversion of the site into a mixed-use development.
Described as the grandest of the royal victualling yards, 'in its externally largely unaltered state it remains today one of the most magnificent industrial monuments in the country'
Those limestone pillars along the distant bluff line are locally called Chimney Rocks and are famous landscape features to canoe or kayak under if you are floating down the Upper Iowa River. They rise about 150 feet (45 meters) above the water and are the result of weathering that eroded away softer limestone in the sheer bluffs there.

Trike Harley-Davidson. Of course I like more than the usual two-wheeled bikes, but we must also think about those who are already difficult to cope with such a technique. I remembered the movie "Sons of Anarchy": father - of red traveled on a three-wheeled bike. And our Putin, once came to the meeting with bikers in Sevastopol on this Trike Harley-Davidson.
I spent some time on our beach (at the end of my street) yesterday evening, and decided that I really must do it more often. It's not what you'd call a busy place.... very peaceful, in fact.
Anyway, it seemed to be a good time to give my wonderful contacts a break from all of those macro flower shots I keep uploading (not that I've actually stopped taking them... lol... cos I just can't resist them!!).
Those little birds just have no fear. The little kingbird, Cassin's I think, buzzed this regal bald eagle a bunch of times while I watched. In fact, it seemed in a few of my frames to be dancing in the eagle's face. The eagle outlasted both of us though, and I moved on. Check it Large!
Those of us who shoot BIF know the challenge of getting a decent flight shot of one of these speedsters. Glad I caught this in under 25,000 frames :-)

I've been walking on the purest snows.
I've been breathing the lightest oxygen.
I've been crossing rough stone stretches
and honey-sweet mountain pastures.
I knew you. I loved you. But now
it's time to leave those altitudes. It's time
for you to go. It's time
for you to breathe.

The Falklands have 2 Steamer Duck, "the Falkland Steamer Duck" and the "Flying Steamer duck". This is the Female Steamer duck and the next image is the male Steamer Duck.... both are "Falkland Steamer" and they do not fly. They are very common ducks and I have seen large flock of them floating at a distance on the ocean, especially when we visited Sea Lion Island. It is very difficult to distinguish the one who can fly from the other one when they are on the water. Robin Woods tells us that "the best distinguishing features are the shape and colour of the bill. Both male and female have slightly longer, more slender and concave bills." We have seen and photograph both species of "Steamer" ducks but I find it hard to distinguish which is which even when examining the pictures closely.... I only know that we saw both type of "Steamer" because we saw them flying. Local names for the non-flying duck is "Logger" or "Loggerhead"
